Mamata visits Jamalpur

Trinamool chief Ms. Mamata Banerjee started off on her tour today with a meeting in Jamalpur in the district of Burdwan. She was accompanied by West Bengal state party president Mr. Subrata Bakshi and other senior leaders. Speaking on the recent happenings in Deganga, she said, “A blueprint of terror is being prepared with the Pujas hardly a few weeks away. The ruling party is importing ‘supari’ killers in Bengal. The CPI(M) is trying to create a riot. But the responsibility for maintaining law and order lies with the Chief Minister of the State.” Voicing her concern over the breakdown of the administrative system in the state, the Trinamool supremo severely criticized the S.P. of Burdwan. Emphasizing the role of her party, she said, “We do not bow down in front of terror. We bow our heads to the people only.” Commenting on a stale strategy, she said there is no use complaining against her in Delhi. Reiterating her position on land acquisition, she once again stated in unequivocal terms that fertile farmland cannot be taken away by force. She promised jobs for the relatives of all those who died because of the mindless terror perpetrated by the CPI(M). Incidentally, Ms. Banerjee’s visit to Jamalpur was decided after Trinamool supporters Panchu Ruidas and Icha Mallick were killed in an explosion last Tuesday. On Sunday, she will lead a march between two perennial trouble-spots of the state, Burdwan’s Mangalkote and Birbhum’s Nanoor.
