KMC intensifies anti-dengue drives

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has intensified its vigil over the drives that are being carried out to prevent spreading of dengue in the city. The vigil has been intensified following heavy shower which the city received last week as a result of the cyclonic storm Bulbul.
It may be recalled that KMC has started anti-dengue drives from January and they have been divided into several phases. KMC has identified 20 wards as vulnerable to dengue and drives have been carried out with intense supervision at these areas.
The KMC teams are visiting individual houses, apartments and commercial buildings, to see whether the underground reservoirs and overhead tanks are properly covered and whether there is any accumulated garbage in the buildings. The garbage from unused vacant plots is also being removed.
The KMC doctors have requested people who are suffering from fever to get their blood tested. The civic body has blood collection centres in every ward along with 16 dedicated dengue laboratories. The result of blood test is informed to the concerned person through SMS and hard copies can be collected from the KMC office.
