I want the BJP to be ousted from Uttar Pradesh: Mamata Banerjee

Before leaving for Lucknow, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee interacted with the media at Kolkata Airport.

Highlights of her interaction:

  • I am going to Uttar Pradesh to campaign for Samajwadi Party. Akhilesh has invited me.
  • I want the BJP to be ousted from Uttar Pradesh. The Samajwadi Party must win. I am going to UP to strengthen the hand of SP, and that is why Trinamool Congress has not put up any candidate in the state.
  • I will also go to Varanasi before the final phase of the elections.
  • I love Punjab. I would go there. I would visit the Golden Temple. When Punjab was burning, I had toured the whole of the state. I want to fight Lok Sabha elections.
  • The aim of my visit is to show the country the right path.
  • Wasn’t someone questioning about Goa? Goa somebody is doing. So I am not. I am going to other places for the greater interest.
  • We had wanted a united fight against the BJP in every state. But not everybody thought likewise.
  • I too want the expansion of the airport. I want a new airport to be built. But it is not easy to provide 1,000 acres.
  • I cannot acquire land by force; that is not my policy.
  • Land has been provided in Bagdogra. Why isn’t that being made into an international airport?
  • Andal Airport is used by the people of Bihar and Jharkhand. Why isn’t the Central government declaring that too an international airport?
