Grand job fair for Utkarsh Bangla beneficiaries in November

On November 26 and 27, the Utkarsh Bangla scheme is going to take a giant stride forward. In a grand programme at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, thousands of youth trained under the scheme (meant primarily for school dropouts) are going to get appointed in companies, based both in India and outside (with offices in the country).
The State Finance Department is in charge of the organising the whole programme. The minister is holding meetings with companies as well as with the various chambers of commerce for setting things up.
The idea behind this placement programme at Netaji Indoor Stadium is not only to give jobs but also to ensure that the students do not get duped by fake offers.
On February 16, 2016, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had launched ‘Utkarsh Bangla’ scheme. Youths from across the State have been trained in various trades under this. The scheme is run by the Technical Education, Training and Skill Development Department.
Under ‘Utkarsh Bangla’ scheme, free skill training is provided to school dropouts who had studied till class VIII. The scheme is gradually being extended to all of those trained through courses ranging from 300 hours to three years at 262 industrial training institutes, 152 polytechnic colleges and 2,782 vocational training centres have been brought under the scheme, to extend to their students .
