Flower Mandi coming up at Thakurnagar
On the initiative of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, a grand permanent flower market with proper facilities is going to be set up at Thakurnagar in the district of North 24 Parganas.
There is already a flower market, near Thakurnagar railway station. But it is a makeshift one, and so has no facilities for proper storage, and the stalls are spread out in a haphazard manner.
The Chief Minister, on getting to know of this state of things, instructed the government to build a permanent centre at the Thakurnagar flower market. Here all sellers would be accommodated under one roof. There would also be cold storages so flowers can be kept fresh for a much longer time.
This decision of the Mamata Banerjee would be big boon for both the numerous flower growers and flower sellers of the region.
