Chief Minister requests experts to take charge of cultural committees

Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday evening visited Nandan and the Rabindra Sadan Cultural Complex. Luminaries from the field of art and literature such as Mahasveta Devi, Joy Goswami and other intellectuals have been requested to head various cultural institutions such as the

She inquired about various ongoing projects at Nandan and also wanted to know about the budget for the Kolkata Film Festival.
Ms. Banerjee also discussed beautification of the entire complex, saying she wants citizens to enjoy their time at the seat of culture. She also went to Kolkata Information Centre, which is housed next door.
The government has requested experts in different cultural spheres to head different cultural committees as below.
Bangla Akademi to be headed by Mahasweta Devi (author and social activist).
Rabindra Sadan to be headed by Sumitra Sen (Rabindrasangeet singer).
