Chief Minister on a two-day district visit to East Midnapore, announces a series of projects

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee reached Kolaghat on Monday evening on a two-day district tour to East Midnapore. This was her second visit to East Midnapore district after taking over as Chief Minister. As usual the Chief Minister took the mini Writers` Building alongwith her.
`We had a long discussion with the administrative officials today and I am happy to inform that the development work has taking place in fast pace`, these were the words of the Chief Minister after an hour-long interactive session with the representatives of the district administration. She said there had been no development in the district in the previous Left Front regime and her government has taken up various development projects after coming to power. Projects were taken up on roads, panchayat areas, she said adding work has started on tourism projects at Digha and Mandarmani and an eco-park project in Haldia.
The Chief Minister also expressed her concern over the apathy of the Central Government in giving the nod to eco-tourism project at Nayachar, `We proposed an eco-tourism project at Nayachar. But the Centre is not giving the environment clearance required for the project`, said the Chief Minister. Speaking to the Press after the administrative meeting at Kolaghat, the Chief Minister said all the issues came up during the long discussion. `We touched issues like the Kisan Credit Cards, Mandi, administration, industry and tourism. I was informed by the police officials that there is a sharp decrease in the crime rates in the area`, she added.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the 2nd Pet Resin Plant at Haldia. `I was spellbound to hear the three nostalgic songs that you played – `Anondo loke mongolaloke`, `Jodi tor dak shune keu na aashey` and `Aalo amar aalo ogo`. I wish I had my synthesizer with me as I feel like playing some tune myself`, it filled the atmosphere with an mesmerizing effect, said Ms. Banerjee on a lighter note. The Chief Minister expressed her happiness and complemented the government for trying to bring back the sick industry back on wheels. She blamed the Left Front government for showing apathy towards industrialization during the past 34 years. `We will build deep-sea ports at Rasulpur and Sunderbans`, added the Chief Minister. However, she expressed her anguish and dismay over the attitude of the Central Government and slammed for not allowing environment clearance required for the eco-tourism project at Nayachar.
She expressed her happiness over the over all development taking place across the district and said that that the pace at which development is taking place is commendable. Chief Minister Ms. Banerjee later inaugurated a factory owned by a private group of companies.
Chief Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee later addressed a public gathering at Nimtori, Tamluk in East Midnapore. On this occasion she distributed Kisan Credit Cards and gave away scholarship to students from minority community. Apart from that the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone of � a flyover on Itaberia-Gobordhanpur road, bridge over the Kolaghat-Kharichowk cannal, bridge over the Panskura, Ratulia, Gobordhanpur, a hostel for boys and girls dedicated to Babu Jagjivanram, Moina girls school, 50-girls-hostel under Sarva Shiksha Abiyan, community hall in Haldia having an accommodation for 1000 people, a minority centre in Nimtor.
Speaking on this occasion the Chief Minister reiterated her stand on the FDI in retail and said that under no circumstances she will allow FDI in retail to enter West Bengal. She said that her life was dedicated to Maa, Mati, Manush and she will continue to work for the development of Bengal. She expressed her concern over the UPA government escalating the price of fertilizers at a galloping speed which has already played havoc on the farmers since they find it difficult to meet both ends. `I warn the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government as such anti-people policies will not be accepted and the UPA will have to roll-back on the fertilizer prices`, said the Chief Minister.
`We have already offered three-lakh government jobs and will give more in the coming days. Apart from that we have started Employment Bank where you can get your names registered and we will inform you as and when we have something to offer you depending on your interest and qualification.
`We also have the scheme of `Nijo bhumi, nijo griho` but those who don�t have a shelter need not be depressed as our government is woring out a mechanism where the homeless will be provided a shelter`, said the Chief Minister who reiterated her stand, `I am committed to provide a home to every homeless people in my state and I assure all homeless people that we will provide a roof to them`, she added.
The Chief Minister also announced that the government was planing to construct an Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in each and every block. Apart from that the Chief Minister said that there will be three multi super specialty hospitals and primary level schools across the district.
