Chief Minister convenes meeting for beautification of riverfront

Kolkata, June 1: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday convened a meeting with some of his cabinet colleagues and senior officials, besides the officials of the Eastern Railway and Metro Railway for beautification of the bank of the Hooghly. A high-power 10-member committee headed by the State Chief Secretary is to submit an action plan for beautification of the promenade along the Hooghly. The committee comprising officials of the state government and concerned agencies involved would submit a report and action plan within a month. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee later said that the modalities of the action plan would be finalized soon after the committee submitted its report. Another meeting would be convened by her towards the end of the June to review the report and finalize the action plan, the chief minister said. The committee would comprise, among others, the state chief secretary, secretaries of the transport and urban development, senior officials of the Eastern Railway, Metro Railway and Kolkata Port Trust, besides the GOC-in-C Eastern Command.
