Chakchaka Industrial Growth Centre to generate 2,156 jobs

The Chakchaka Industrial Growth in the district of Cooch Behar will soon get 24 more manufacturing units. This, and the other details mentioned below, was announced by the State Industry, Commerce & Enterprise Minister, Dr Amit Mitra in the Assembly on July 31. This is an important step for the industrial development of north Bengal.

In the last few months, a lot of infrastructural developments have taken place at the industrial centre, and the 24 companies have agreed to set up facilities as a result of that.

The Trinamool Congress Government has constructed a 1.85 km-long road and a power substation, laid a pipeline for a stretch of 1.2 km and a surface drainage system, set up 56 street lights, and built an administrative office.

The 24 units, with a total investment of Rs 6,831.98 lakh, are coming up on an area of 20.68 acres, and will lead to the generation of around 2,156 jobs.

Twenty-one of these units will start functioning in the next eight to ten months. They will be investing Rs 5,886 lakh to set up manufacturing facilities on 16.51 acres, leading to 2,038 jobs.
