Biswa Bangla Lok Sanskriti Utsab begins
The third edition of the annual Biswa Bangla Lok Sanskriti Utsab began yesterday and will continue till January 1, 2018.
The Lok Sanskriti Utsab is being held at the Rabindra Sadan complex. The newly set up open-air cultural space, Rabindra Sadan Mukta Mancha, which has been christened ‘Ektara’, will also host some of the performances.
The festival will see folk performers from across Bengal belt out song and dance performances. This festival is one of the highlights of the festival scene in Kolkata.
It may be mentioned, that Mamata Banerjee launched the Lok Prasar Prakalpa scheme for the welfare of folk artistes in the State. Over 2 lakh artistes have been registered under this scheme and receive monthly stipends, and an opportunity to perform at government functions.

শুরু হল বিশ্ব বাংলা লোকসংস্কৃতি উৎসব, চলবে ১লা জানুয়ারি পর্যন্ত। ২০১৫ সালে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের অনুপ্রেরণায় শুরু হয় এই উৎসব।
এবছর লোকসংস্কৃতি উৎসব হচ্ছে রবীন্দ্র সদন প্রাঙ্গনে। নবনির্মিত রবীন্দ্র সদন মুক্ত মঞ্চে – যার নামকরণ করা হয়েছে ‘একতারা’- হবে এই অনুষ্ঠানের কিছু অংশ। রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন প্রান্তের নানা লোকশিল্পী অংশগ্রহণ করবেন এই উৎসবে।
উল্লেখ্য, বাংলার লোকশিল্পের পুনরুজ্জীবন ঘটিয়ে লোকশিল্পীদের মাধ্যমে সামাজিক বার্তা ও রাজ্য সরকারের নানা প্রকল্প সম্পর্কে তথ্য সাধারন মানুষের মধ্যে পৌঁছে দেওয়ার উদ্দেশ্যে লোকপ্রসার প্রকল্প শুরু করেছে রাজ্য সরকার। এখনও পর্যন্ত রাজ্যের প্রায় ২ লক্ষ লোকশিল্পীকে এই প্রকল্পের আওতায় মাসিক বহাল ভাতা, পেনশন এবং অনুষ্ঠান পিছু সম্মান দক্ষিণা নেওয়া হচ্ছে।
