Bengal Govt to install sanitary napkin vending machines in 69 women’s institutions
The Bengal Government has decided to install sanitary napkin vending machines along with incinerators for proper disposal in 69 women-specific educational institutions in the State. Of the 69, 68 are colleges and the other is the Diamond Harbour Women’s University.
The State Higher Education Department would be implementing the programme. The monetary sanction for this was recently granted by the Finance Department.
The setup in each institution would cost Rs 65,696. The total amount to be spent on the machines is approximately Rs 45.33 lakh.
As per the notice issued by the Higher Education Department, approximately 1.07 lakh female students, teachers and other personnel would be benefited through the deployment of these machines.

৬৯টি কলেজে স্যানিটারি ন্যাপকিনের মেশিন বসানোর জন্য ৪৫ লক্ষের বেশি টাকা বরাদ্দ করল শিক্ষা দপ্তর। এই তালিকায় আছে একটি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ও। সেটি হল ডায়মন্ডহারবার মহিলা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়।
উল্লেখ্য, পুরোপুরি মহিলা কলেজ বা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়কেই এই মেশিন বসানোর টাকা দেওয়া হবে।
এক বিজ্ঞপ্তি জারি করে দপ্তর জানিয়েছে, অর্থ দপ্তরের সম্মতি পাওয়ার পরই এই অর্থ বরাদ্দ করা হয়েছে।
কলেজ পিছু একটি মেশিন বসানোর খরচ পড়বে ৬৫ হাজার ৬৯৬ টাকা। ৬৯টির মধ্যে কলকাতায় রয়েছে ৩০টি কলেজ। সরকারি উদ্যোগে এমন মেশিন বসানোর উদ্যোগ এই প্রথম।
