Bangla to provide support to tech firms in Silicon Valley Hub

The Bangla Government will provide financial support to technology companies for setting up their facilities at the upcoming Silicon Valley Hub in New Town, so that they can set up their units at an affordable cost. A policy document will be announced soon.

This plan was revealed by the additional chief secretary of the IT & Electronics Department while addressing a gathering at the 17th ICT East summit, organised by the CII.

In August, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had laid the foundation for the setting up of the Silicon Valley Hub on a 200-acre plot.

He said the intent of the State Government is to create a strong platform and make a robust digital ecosystem that evolves and grows, enabling Bangla to become a knowledge catalyst on upcoming technology for businesses.

The government has partnered a number of leading institutions on this – with Calcutta University on quantum computing, with ISI on blockchain technology, with MAKAUT on cyber security, with NIT on robotics and with IIT Kharagpur on innovation and artificial intelligence. The additional secretary further said the State Government will organise a Blockchain Congress in December.

There is a tremendous opportunity for companies in eastern India, in general, to leverage technology megatrends like internet of things (IoT), machine learning, artificial intelligence, bockchain, etc.
