Bangla Govt to improve water transport facilities
The Bangla Government has decided to introduce more river transport services. This would be done with aid from the World Bank. The project has been named ‘West Bengal Logistic and Transport Improvement Project’.
Launch and ferry services would reduce the time of journey considerably for daily commuters as there would be no traffic jams.
The highlights of the project are as follows:
New routes
New jetties
State-of-the-art vessels
New and amended laws to ensure things run smoothly
Use of GIS technology to map routes
