Bangla Govt to create new sports policy
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced recently that the Trinamool Congress Government is planning to introduce a sports policy.
She stated that it will be of great help for athletes. The sports policy will be introduced with an aim to ensure that more athletes can take part in the international level.
According to the Chief Minister, necessary support will be given to those who will perform well in the Commonwealth Games so that they can take part in the Asiads. Similarly, those who will perform well in Asiads, will be provided with necessary support to ensure that they can participate in the Olympics.
This comes at the time when the state government has already taken a series of initiatives to improve infrastructure for sports and culture in the State. World-class infrastructure has been developed in several places so that athletes can go for regular practice without having to travel to Kolkata.
The State Government has also taken up a project to develop a sports city at Dumurjola in Howrah district. Moreover, the government gives annual financial support to local clubs to promote sports. It also announced recently financial support for established coaching institutes for different sports.
