Asit Kumar Mal’s Zero Hour mention on the government’s stopping of a scholarship scheme for SC, ST, OBC and minority community students
Hon. Chairperson, Sir, recently the Central Government has revoked a very old scholarship scheme for SC, ST, OBC, and minority pre-matric students. As a result, a few crore applications become null and void. Both, formal and residential students would receive Rs. 750 and Rs .1000 at a time as book grant respectively. Both, Central and State Governments, jointly shared this amount in 75 per cent and 25 per cent ratio. Now, these students are deprived of this monetary help which enabled them to get their education. Now, a few crore students of the downtrodden communities will have to face a severe and a critical financial situation. So, I would like to draw the kind attention of the hon. Prime Minister to this issue and request him to take back this capricious decision and also give opportunity of education to these few crore poor children. This is my humble request. Thank you.
