State Social Welfare Department to have three new directorates
The state Women Development, Social Welfare and Child Development department is going to form three separate directorates for the smooth execution of several projects.
The Minister-in-charge, Dr Shashi Panja, said that the earlier director of social welfare used to supervise all projects of the department. “The three new directorates are directorate of child rights and anti-trafficking, directorate of ICDS and directorate of social welfare,” she said.
She said the state government is also planning a separate department for the development of the transgender. She expressed her concern over the tendency of begging by a section of transgender. “We are planning for their alternative livelihood and education,” she said.
