Mamata Requests Hon’ble President To Prepone WB Assembly Elections

Railway Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee, at her meeting with the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Patil, described in detail the state of lawlessness in Bengal. The minister said there was a strong case to be made to advance the date of the Assembly elections in Bengal. After their successive election defeats, the CPI(M) led Left front Government had unleashed a reign of terror. The complete breakdown in the administrative machinery and the loss of the people’s faith in the CPI(M) led government were good enough reasons to prepone the elections, the minister stressed.
