North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) is introducing Premium Rocket buses with bio-toilets to ensure better connectivity at a much lesser time from different locations in north Bengal to Kolkata. As Premium Rocket buses will be on the streets soon, the decade-old simple Rocket buses will gradually phase out.

In the first phase, NBSTC will introduce seven such buses. The fleet of the buses will be flagged off by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her visit to north Bengal in the next week. The two chassis air-conditioned buses will be having bio-toilets. The buses have been bought at a cost of Rs 1.98 crore. The transport corporation will be introducing seven more such buses in 2017-18 financial year. E-ticketing system and online reservation will also be introduced soon.

Out of the seven buses, three will be operating between Cooch Behar and Kolkata, two from Malda to Kolkata and the remaining two will be plying between Behrampore and Cooch Behar.

বায়ো টয়লেট সহ প্রিমিয়াম রকেট বাস চালু করবে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর। উত্তরবঙ্গের বিভিন্ন অংশের সঙ্গে কলকাতার যোগাযোগ ব্যবস্থা আরও উন্নত করতে এবং যাত্রার সময় কমানোর জন্য চালু হচ্ছে এই ব্যবস্থা।

প্রথম পর্যায়ে সাতটি বাস চালু হবে। আগামী সপ্তাহে উত্তরবঙ্গে এগুলির উদ্বোধন করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত এই বাস গুলিতে থাকবে বায়ো টয়লেট। বাসগুলি কেনা হয়েছে ১.৯৮ কোটি টাকায়। ২০১৭-১৮ অর্থবর্ষে এই ধরনের আরও সাতটি বাস চালু করবে রাজ্য পরিবহণ দপ্তর। ই-টিকিট সিস্টেম এবং অনলাইন রিজার্ভেশন খুব শীঘ্রই চালু হবে।

সাতটি বাসের মধ্যে তিনটি বাস চলবে কোচবিহার ও কলকাতার মধ্যে। দুটি বাস চলবে কলকাতা-মালদা রুটে এবং বাকি দুটি বাস চলবে বহরমপুর-কোচবিহার রুটে।
