Nandigram a milestone in my life: Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated 106 projects and lay the foundation stone of 42 more in East Midnapore district. She also launched the ‘Sabuj Sathi’ project in the district during a public meeting at Nandigram.

WB CM distributed different agriculture and fishing equipment, pattas, cycles, loans to the beneficiaries. Besides this, many people received financial assistance under different schemes. Students got bicycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stones for the office the district magistrate and an administrative building, water supply projects, bus stands, godowns, road projects, irrigation projects, State Welfare Home at Contai, animal welfare centres, health centres and some other projects.

The CM inaugurated Matangini Hazra Women’s College (Phase I), district training centre, water supply projects, public welfare training centre, road projects, renovation of canals, bridges, several new attractions at Digha, besides some other projects.

Highlights of WB CM’s speech:

  • We have inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several projects in different sectors today.
  • Three new ITIs will come up in East Midnapore. 4 new multi super speciality hospitals will come up in this State.
  • We are developing Krishak Bazars for our farmers. We have given compensation to 7 lakh people after floods in Midnapore.
  • 1.5 lakh students will get cycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme in this district. By January, 25 lakh students will get cycles.
  • From 27 January, 2016, 7 crore people in Bengal will get food grains at Rs 2/kg. We are ensuring ‘Food For All’.
  • 100% coverage has been achieved for mid-day meal, rural electrification in East Midnapore.
  • 30 lakh girls have been registered under Kanyashree scheme.
  • We have registered 14 lakh SC/ST students under Sikshashree scheme.
  • We are providing loans and subsidies to self-help groups in the state.
  • I have never forgotten Nandigram. Singur-Nandigram have been milestones in my life.
  • I can never forget the sacrifices made by people of Nandigram. We can never forget the atrocities in the name of sunrise.
  • The atrocities carried out in Nandigram were a dark chapter in the history of Bengal. We will never allow them to repeat.
  • We have approved Ghatal Master Plan for flood prevention.
  • We have taken several initiatives in education sector for Nandigram.
  • We are planning to promote environment-friendly, eco-tourism at Nayachar. We will not allow chemical hub there.
  • We are allocating Rs 10 crore for a new higher secondary school here.
  • We will build a Martyr’s Memorial and a Cultural Convention Centre here.
  • It is because of your struggle that we came to office in 2011.
  • We have not achieved financial freedom till now. We increased our revenues but Centre takes away major share of our taxes.
  • The Left incurred huge debt. We inherited their legacy. Neither Congress nor BJP govt at Centre helped us.
  • We have introduced reservation for OBCs and minorities without reducing the no. of seats for general category.
  • We believe in ‘Health for All’. Beds and medicines at govt hospitals are free. We have set up fair price medicine shops.
  • The logo of Sabuj Sathi scheme was made by me. It signifies the power of youth. They will win over the world one day.
  • Despite all the financial hardships, the amount of work we have done in the last four years is unmatched.

WB CM launches Sabuj Sathi scheme in Murshidabad district

West Bengal Chief Minister today launched the Sabuj Sathi scheme for Murshidabad district at a government programme held at Dhamua Sports Complex in Sagardighi. She also inaugurated the 500 MW third unit of the Sagardighi Power Project.

The Chief Minister inaugurated a bouquet of developmental projects for the district ranging from two super specialty hospitals at Jangipur and Sagardighi blocks, a number of health centres, government buildings, youth hostels, water supply projects to model schools and Karma Tirthas.

A number of projects like new roads, Government and school buildings, arsenic-free water supply projects were initiated by the Chief Minister by laying foundation stones. Besides, cycles of Sabuj Sathi, the Chief Minister will distribute benefits and grants including Kanyashree, Sikshashree and Kisan Credit Cards.

Highlights of her speech:

Today we have inaugurated the 3rd phase of thermal power plant at Sagardighi which has capacity of 500 MW

Fourth phase of Sagardighi power plant with 500 MW capacity will also happen soon in future

We make promises which we can fulfill. We have inaugurated two multi super speciality hospitals in Murshidabad district today

We are also inaugurating a mother and child hub in Murshidabad district. Gone are the days of load-shedding.

Bengal has become self-sufficient in power. We are developing a power bank.

Lakhs and lakhs of students in Murshidabad district will get cycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme.

Students and youths are our future. They will make us proud before the whole world.

We have made healthcare free in Bengal. Beds and medicines are free at govt hospitals.

We have unleashed a surge of development across the State. 41 new multi super speciality hospitals coming up across Bengal.

There were 6 SNCUs in Bengal till 2011. We set up 50 new units in four years.

100% schools are covered under mid-day meal scheme in this district.

We have created 25000 new beds at hospitals in the last four years.

We have set up fair price medicine shops and diagnostic centres that offer discounts up to 70% on medicines.

Procedures like dialysis can be performed at minimal cost at fair price diagnostic centres.

We are setting up 22 Kisan Mandis in Murshidabad district. Has so much work happened in this district before?

30 lakh people have received land pattas in the last four years.

We had a target of creating 50000 ponds under Jal Dharo Jal Bharo scheme. We have already created 1.3 lakh ponds.

In Swachh Bharat scheme, 3 out of top 4 districts are from Bengal.

3.2 crore out of 9 crore people in Bengal receive rice at Rs 2/kg. From 27 Jan, additional 3 crore people will get rice at Rs 3/kg

84 lakh students from minority communities & 14 lakh SC/ST students have received scholarships in the last 4 years.

30 lakh girls are registered under Kanyashree scheme. 40 lakh students will get cycles under Sabuj Sathi scheme.

500 Karma Tirthas are coming up across the State. Unemployed youths will get shops there.

Tourism is flourishing in the State. A lot of tourists are visiting Murshidabad district. We are very happy.

We want to reach people’s hearts with our developmental work.

We follow the path shown by Rabindranath, Nazrul, Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna. For us there is no difference in Maa, Mother, Ammi.

The Left Front incurred huge debt and now we are paying for their sins.

We increased our revenues from Rs 20000 Cr to Rs 41000 Cr. But Centre is taking away major share of our revenue.

Our earning is Rs 40000 Cr and Centre is taking away Rs 30000 Cr. How will we continue with our developmental work?

There can be no politics over development. I challenge the Opposition to counter me on development plank.

There are a lot of talented gold zari workers in Murshidabad. We have to promote their talent. We cannot let them go to other states.

Tyag ka naam hai Hindu, Imaan ka naam hai Musalman. Pyaar ka naam hai Isaai, Mera Bharat Mahaan.

Our motto is to work for people of all faiths. We do not discriminate among people. We will not allow divisive forces in Bengal.

We will not allow Bengal to be insulted. We will fight for our rights.

 

 

 

WB CM conducts administrative review meeting in Purulia

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Monday held a meeting with the top district administration officials and legislators to review the progress of the development works carried out by different departments of Purulia district, an official said.

The meeting was attended by District Magistrate Tanmay Chakraborty, Superintendent of Police Rupesh Kumar, all the sub-divisional officers, block development officers, MP Mriganka Mahto and all the legislators of the district, the official said.

The Chief Minister laid special stress on the working of various departments like agriculture and health. She also distributed cheques to some farmers who suffered crop losses in unseasonal rains and nor’wester.

WB CM directed the officials to speed up the development works. She laid stress on the drinking water problem faced by local people. She also said that Raghunathpur would be developed as an industrial hub.

WB CM to review the progress of rural development at Nabanna today

West Bengal Chief Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee will chair a review meeting today at Nabanna with all the District Magistrates and district Sabhadhipatis. She will review the status of the developmental works that has been taken up across the State.

Finance, Commerce and Industry Minister Amit Mitra, and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Subrata Mukherjee will be present in this meeting.

Reports of the works done in all the districts have already been collected from the Zila Parishads. The Chief Minister will review the progress of various schemes for rural development, such as 100 Days’ Work Scheme, Rural Road projects, Geetanjali Housing Scheme among others.

The focus of the meeting will be the work done by the Zilla Parishads in recent times. All the Additional District Magistrates who are in charge of the Zilla Parishads will also take part in the meeting.
