Festive edition of Jago Bangla published

Trinamool Chairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee today released the Jago Bangla Festive Edition today at 5 PM at a colourful ceremony at Nazrul Mancha.

Like every year, the cover of the Utsav edition has been designed by Mamata Banerjee. The backs cover feature photographs taken by the Chairperson.

This year’s edition has articles by the party general Secretary Subrata Bakshi, Secretary General Partha Chatterjee, TMYC president Abhishek Banerjee, MP Suvendu Adhikari, senior leaders and state ministers, Firhad Hakim, Aroop Biswas among others.

The Trinamool Chairperson has detailed her visit to London in her article, in this year’s edition. A photo gallery, detailing the visit is also present in the edition.

Mamata Banerjee said, “We are proud of the team that puts together Jago Bangla. There is huge demand for ‪‎Jago Bangla‬ because it is soothing, even as it is our mouthpiece it is not used to attack others.”

“The aim of Jago Bangla is to spread our movement to the grassroots, to build awareness in Bengal. Hence the name,” she added.

WB Tourism Dept launches Durga Puja packages for 2015

West Bengal Tourism has once again launched exclusive Puja Parikrama packages for the year 2015.

Here are the details of the Puja packages:

Udbodhoni (17 and 18 October) package includes all night pre-puja tour and will cover pandals at College Square, Mudiali Club, Badamtala Ashar Sangha, Kashi Bose Lane, Baghbazar Sarbojonin, Ekdalia Evergreen, Hatibagan Sarbojonin, 66 Pally, Singhi Park and Park Circus.

Sanatani-I (8 AM to 12:30 PM on 20 and 21 October) package consists of Durga Pujas in Khelat Ghosh Bari, Sobhabazar Rajbari, Chhatubabu &Latubabu’s House, Chandra Bari, Rani Rashmoni’s House, Thantania Dutta Bari and Baghbazar.

Sanatani-II (2 PM to 6 PM on 20 and 21 October) package consists of Durga Pujas in Khelat Ghosh Bari, Sobhabazar Rajbari, Chhatubabu & Latubabu’s House, Chandra Bari, Rani Rashmoni’s House, Thantania Dutta Bari and Baghbazar.

Hooghly Safar: Another package includes tours of Durga Pujas in the districts. This will be held on 20, 21 and 22 October, travelling to various Puja pandals in Hooghly.

Kolkata’s longest flyover to be inaugurated before Durga Puja

The state government is planning to inaugurate the Parama Island flyover on ‘Mahalaya’, which falls on October 12 this year.

“Work is on in full swing. After the opening of the flyover, work of setting up a flank to join the flyover with the AJC Bose road flyover at Park Circus junction will start,” state urban development minister said at Nabanna on Monday.

The Park Circus to Parama Island flyover, once thrown open to traffic, will be the city’s longest flyover. While the main flyover will be 4.5 km long, the total length, including the ramps and flanks, will be 9.2 km.

The minister also said the state government will write to the Centre on the matter of not listing any flyover project in the newly formed Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).

“We have voiced our concerns on the AMRUT scheme. None of the JNNURM-listed flyover projects are being included in the AMRUT. The state government is taking up the matter and will write to the Centre to include the flyover projects under the AMRUT scheme,” he said.
