FULL TRANSCRIPT

Sir, I would like to bring to your notice that there is a serious shortage of anti-rabies vaccine in Bangla and other States. The highest number of rabies cases are in India. The Chief Minister of Bangla Mamata Banerjee has written to the hon Health Minister several times. A letter was also sent on August 3rd regarding the shortage of vaccine.

Rabies is a disease which causes death. So, unless the anti-rabies vaccine is applied, hundreds of people will die; this is a very serious issue. There was a protocol that all anti-rabies vaccine which are produced in India have to tested by the Central Drugs Laboratory in Kasauli. A lot of such samples are just pending and in the last few months not a single vial of vaccine has been supplied to Bangla. People are dying by the hundreds and this is a very serious issue and there is a similar crises in the other States.

My request to the government is that the methodology of supplying vaccine should be improved so that vaccines could regularly be given to government and private hospitals in other States to save lives.
