Kalyan Banerjee asks a Question on banking sector and PSUs

FULL TRANSCRIPT
Thank you Madam, for giving me the chance (to speak). Despite all the criticism, people of this country still hold confidence in the nationalised banks. The private organisations are much more interested in profits; that’s alright. The general sentiment of the common people, who need secured money, is that they still have confidence in nationalised banks. Some aversions are there… NPAs are there.
I have a question which is really troubling me for few months. I read a news in the newspapers that State Bank of India has suffered a loss of more than Rs 3,000 crore. If that is so, it is a great shocking news.
My question is whether it is because of the merger of State Bank of India with State Bank of Punjab and State Bank of Travancore, State Bank of Bikaner and other banks. Whether because of this, these banks have been suffering losses? The main State Bank of India didn’t suffer any loss… whether this is fallout of this merger or not. That is my question.
