Aparupa Poddar asks a Question on generation of solar powe

Thank you Madam Speaker for allowing me to ask this question.
What has been the progress made by the Government of India in solar power generation for the for a long period after independence? Madam, the apex institutions of higher studies like IITs, IIMs, have not been covered under the ambit of generation of solar power.
Regarding this aspect, the hon Prime Minister had once announced that the Government is going to make an agreement with foreign countries like Germany, or any other European countries, for endorsing solar power.
Has it been done? If yes, how far has it been implemented and how far has solar power generation progressed? The minister may please enlighten the House.
