Collection of electoral funds by a party in the name of PM is illegal: Didi at Dumdum

Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee today addressed a rally in support of Saugata Roy at Dumdum. During her speech she slammed the BJP for creating a fund using the PM`s name. She said such a fund was illegal as no party has the right to use the PM`s name to raise funds for the party.

Excerpts from theChairperson’s speech:

I have been elected to the Lok Sabha several times. I havenever seen such a malicious campaign like this year. The campaign this year isnot based on policy matters but on propaganda, malicious lies and falsehood. Themedia has sold itself to some parties. There can be nothing more tragic thanthis.

Opinion is being sold for money. The media has lost its voice. The value of vote of Tata or Birla is the same as that of a daily wage labourer.Even before a baby is born, its date of marriage has been fixed. Media houseshave started projecting a PM candidate.

A political party is entitled to raise money, ask fordonations. But to ask for money in the name of PM fund is unheard of. PM and CMare Government posts. Political parties cannot collect funds in their name. PM andCM can only have relief funds.

Congress and CPI(M) never open their mouths against Modi orthe BJP. I am in favour of policies that are pro-people. I support policiesthat help in the upliftment of the poor. The CPI(M) has forgotten theirideology. They only know how to exploit people and serve themselves.

Out of the three years we were in power, we have lost morethan 6 months due to elections and Model Code. We have severe financial crunch.Yet we are working hard for the people. We have set up 8 new universities whilethe Left only set up 1 during its tenure. We started 31 new colleges while theLeft set up only 3 colleges. We are No. 1 in 100-Days Work Scheme. Ourexpenditure was highest in the country.

We spent Rs 5500 crore to create jobs under 100-Days WorkScheme while Gujarat spent only Rs 500 crore. In terms of bank credit flow inMSME sector, our growth was 106% while for Gujarat it was 50%. We have startedthe Kanyashree scheme for girls.Girls can pursue education and we will give them financial assistance. We havestarted Yuvashree scheme. One lakhunemployed youth can register their names in the employment bank. We are doingall this work despite the financial crunch. The Centre is taking away all ourmoney.

On May 12, cast your vote in favour of joraphool. Voteagainst the divisive politics of BJP, corruption of Congress and the maliciouscampaigns of the CPI(M).

Money power is being used to influence sections of the media: Didi at Baranagar

Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee today addressed arally at Baranagar in support of the party candidate for Dumdum Lok Sabhaconstituency, Saugata Roy. During her speech she slammed the divisive politicsof BJP. She said even if one person in Bengal is touched, appropriate replywill be given. She also slammed the CPI(M) for their malicious propaganda.

Excerpts from theChairperson’s speech:

I am thankful to all of you for being present here. We havebeen campaigning for the last few months in the heat. The elections this yearare the longest in history. We are working hard despite the summer heat. Ourmotto is Sarva Dharma Samanyay. Wethank everyone for your support.

Certain sections of the media have sold themselves to a fewpolitical parties. The Lakshman Rekhaof malicious campaign, falsehood and decency has been crossed this year. Somepeople are using black money to win the elections. A dangabaj has bought the media with money power. A dark era hasstarted in Indian politics. A tainted person is using all might to come topower. Parties can collect money for funding election expenses. But collectingfunds in the name of PM is wrong.

We have heard of PM or CM Relief Funds. Have you heard of aperson/party collecting fund in the name of PM? Had Modi asked for funds forthe party, I`d have no objection. But what is Modi for PM fund? This isunconstitutional. Modi is not PM. How can he ask money for Modi for PM fund? PMis a Constitutional post. How can they use PM`s name to collect funds for party.

Before threatening others of packing their bags, he shouldpack his own bags and be ready to go to jail for criminal offence. The Leftaccuses us of using Saradha funds. When was Saradha founded? When did chitfunds start their business in Bengal? Who was in power when Saradha wasstarted? Who was the CM when Sanchayita chit fund scam happened? CPI(M)`smouthpiece took large amount of money from Saradha as ads.

The former Finance Minister should be asked whether hiselection campaign in 2011 was funded by Saradha. A media house which targets usover Saradha also got money from Saradha. We have several pictures of theformer CM of West Bengal with various chit fund owners.

CPI(M) gave up its ideology to serve themselves. They haveforgotten their ideals. Political discourse in India has become unilateral. CPI(M)is indulging in malicious campaign. Congress is corrupt and BJP stands forpolitics of riots. Confidence is good but not over-confidence. BJP should notdare to touch a single Bengali.

There is nothing called PM candidate. MPs decide who will bethe PM after elections. They say that Biharis are ill-treated in Bengal. Whatlies! We have State holiday for Chhat puja too. Does Gujarat give holiday onChhat Puja. Dinesh Trivedi was born in Gujarat, but he is as much Bengali as weare. Can Gujarat boast of even one Bengali MLA?

We have MPs and MLAs with roots in different States. We haveleaders from all communities in the State. People of Bengal live in peace andharmony. This makes dangababu veryangry and jealous. Bengal will lead India in the future. The CPI(M) stoppedcourses in English in schools. They deprived a generation of learning a language.

I feel the youth should learn new languages. Knowing morelanguages will help in progress. We have given recognition to Urdu, Hindi, AlChiki, Gurmukhi and Nepali language. We believe in unity in diversity. Afterearthquake in Gujarat, as Rail Minister I helped in rehabilitating the State.

The Left incurreddebts worth Rs 2 lakh crore and the Centre is taking away all our revenue now. Despitethe financial crunch, Bengal is No. 1 in 100-Days Work Scheme. We are settingup ITIs in every block, polytechnic colleges in every sub-division. I haveattended 54 administrative meetings at block level in the last three years.

I`d have no problem if they countered us politically. Butno, they are targeting us with malicious campaigns. You have to save India. Youhave to restore the honour of Ma, Mati, Manush. You have to stop divisivepolitics. People will cast their vote.

I have full faith in them. Saugata Roy is always there forthe people, throughout the year. He is not like politicians who can be seenonly during elections.

On May 12, cast your vote in favour of joraphool.

Vote against the divisive politics of BJP, corruption ofCongress and the propaganda of CPI(M).

Where is the money from Sanchayita chit fund scam: Partha Chaterjee questions Left

Trinamool Congress Secretary General ParthaChatterjee held a Press Conference at Trinamool Bhavan yesterday and slammed theCPI(M) for not taking any steps when Overland and Sanchayita chit fund scams tookplace during the Left Front regime in West Bengal.

“FormerWest Bengal Finance Minister Ashok Mitra (Finance Minister between 1977 and1987) himself had noted that there was no trace of Rs 4000 crore to Rs 5000crore from the Sanchayita chit fund scam. Can we conclude that the money wentto the (CPI-M) party men?” the party Secretary General asked.

MrChatterjee said that ponzi scheme companies mushroomed during the Left Frontregime. He said, in 2001-2002 there were 17 such companies in the State and theamount floating in the chit funds was Rs 20 crore. By 2010-2011 the numberjumped to 1,249 and the amount raised by these entities was Rs 55,000 crore. Hesaid these figures were stated in the Left mouthpiece by a candidate of theCPI(M) himself.

“TheLeft government had done nothing, while our government arrested the mainaccused (Saradha group chairman), set up a Judicial Commission and has alreadypaid back money to four lakh depositors of Saradha,” Mr Chatterjee said.

Incidentally,West Bengal Government, showing its humane face, has formed a fund of Rs 500 croreto repay the cheated investors, who are poor and had lost every penny of theirlifelong savings.

Opposition cannot counter us on policy issues, hence indulging in malicious propaganda: Didi at Panihati

Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjeetoday addressed three rallies at Basirhat, Swarupnagar and Panihati. At thePanihati rally, held in support of Saugata Roy, Ms. Mamata Banerjee again saidthat she will never allow the division of Bengal. She also slammed the LeftFront for ruining Bengal in the last 34 years and accused the Centre of financiallydepriving the State so that development comes to a standstill.

Excerptsfrom the Chairperson`s speech:

We interact with people so that we canunderstand their problems and find a solution to their problems. I am very fondof kids. They always say the truth. They are very innocent. I do not take anyprivileges as the CM. I do not draw salary as CM or use Government cars. Evenwhen I am visiting districts, I pay for my own expenses.

I gave the royalty of my first book to thevictims of Amta violence. Money from the sale of my paintings were given tospastic society and CM’s relief fund. The money raised from the sale of mypaintings is taken in the form of cheques in favour of Jago Bangla. I manage my living my selling my books. But Oppositionhas a problem with that too. I have struggled a lot in my life. I alwayschronicle my experience for the posterity to benefit from it.

The CPI(M) is indulging in maliciouscampaigns, Congress is steeped in corruption and BJP stands for communalism. Irequest the Opposition to counter us on policies. I am ready to answer alltheir questions. But I will not tolerate any attempts to divide the State. Iwill not allow any Bengalis to be thrown out of the State. Before raising thebogey of chit funds, the Left should answer who was in power when chit fundswere founded in Bengal.

The CPI(M) mouthpiece is full of ads ofSaradha. They have taken money from chit funds. Several media houses took moneyfrom Saradha to publish ads. How can they point fingers at others now? I wantto ask the former Finance Minister of Bengal whether his campaign in 2011 wasfunded by Saradha. We raised the slogan bodlanoy bodol chai (change not revenge). Political violence has come down inBengal.

Our revenue collection has increased fromRs 21000 crore to Rs 40000 crore. We have registered the highest growth inrevenue income – 31%. While we are increasing our earning, the Centre has beentaking away all our money. Instead of raising his voice against the neglect byCentre for Bengal, Modi is talking of driving Bengalis away. If they dare totouch a single citizen of Bengal, we will not sit silently. Who are theycalling refugees?

People who have taken shelter in Bengal arethe rightful citizens of the State. Several thousands of people from Assam havecome to Bengal after the recent violence. We have given them shelter. UP,Bihari, Rajasthani, Marwari – everyone living in this State is a Bengali. Howmany Bengali MLAs does Gujarat have? We have MLAs and MPs from different regions.

They are spending unimaginable amount ofmoney to create a gas balloon. Has anyone ever heard of a PM candidate? It islike fixing the date of marriage of a baby even before it is born. Some partiesare inciting violence between communities. This is the nadir of politics. Gandhiji,Bhagat Singh, Netaji, Maulana Azad – they never talked of any particularcommunity. BJP can never become a banyan tree. They are not inclusive.

The Left have sold their ideology to the Congressand BJP. They only serve their own interests. Peace prevails in Darjeeling. Ihave myself visited Darjeeling several times to bring peace in the Hills. Jangalmahalis a national model for countering Maoist violence. Kanyahsree is an international model. UNICEF is partnering with us.Girls are getting assistance to pursue education. Our fair price medicine shopsare a national model. We have distributed 28 lakh Kisan Credit Cards in two andhalf years. We have started 31 Govt colleges in two and half years. CPI(M) setup only 3 in 34 years. The Left set up 1 university in 34 years. We have set up8 new universities.

The Opposition cannot counter us on policymatters. They cannot criticise our development initiatives. The Opposition isjealous. That is why Centre is taking away our money so that development comesto a halt in Bengal. We are building 500 marketing hubs. 5 lakh people will getjobs. We are setting up fair price diagnostic centres and 34 multi superspeciality hospitals.

Why did the Left never think ofe-governance methods? We have increased revenue through e-taxation methods. CPI(M)-Congress-BJPare playing a got-up match. My message for them: I will continue withdevelopment, catch me if you can.

Saugata Roy is a hard worker. He is alwaysthere for the people at times of need. Vote for Saugata Roy. Vote for joraphool. Those who want to throwpeople away from Bengal, make sure you throw them out of Bengal through ballots.

Trinamoolwill emerge as the third largest party. We will become a National party soon.

Her father was a Group D employee in theIndian Railways. Her family – comprising two brothers and her parents – haslived through abject poverty. She struggled against all odds to pursue hereducation. She is the bhoomikanya ofJangalmahal Uma Soren. She is preparing for her post-doctoral course now. Ifshe is elected from Jhargram Lok Sabha constituency as a representative of theTrinamool Congress, she will become the first woman Santhal MP of India.

Uma Soren completed her course in medicinetwo years ago. She practices medicine in Jhargram. Her main contender isanother doctor – Pulinbihari Baske of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).Uma Soren lives in a simple one-storey house in Jhargram town. She is oftenaccused of being a recluse. But over the last few months she has been goingfrom door to door to connect to the voters. Incidentally, the political bannersand hoardings in her constituency do not have her photo, only Didi`s. Partyworkers too are working hard to see her win in the forthcoming elections.

Uma Soren says, “We have seen deaths due tostarvation and violence in the past. But now they are history. A lot ofdevelopment has happened in the last three years under the leadership of MamataBanerjee. She lives in the hearts of people. I am ready to sacrifice my lifefor her.”

Her message towards Dalit women is, “MamataBanerjee has shown us how to dream for a better future. You too should teachyour children to plan for their future. Turning Didi`s dreams into reality isour aim.”

“Jangalmahal lived in abject poverty untila few years ago. There was no development. People were terrorised due to theviolence. The tides have turned. Jangalmahal is smiling again. People do notwant the dark days of the past to return” says the MLA of Salboni, SrikantaPatra.

Trinamool accuses Modi of Model Code violation, demands his arrest: PTI

Trinamool Congress wrote to ElectionCommission seeking action against Narendra Modi alleging that he has violatedthe model code by `seeking vote in the name of religion` and party chief MamataBanerjee renewed her demand for his arrest.

“Trinamool has written today to theElection Commission asking for action against Modi for seeking votes in thename of religion, spreading communal disharmony and breaking the model code ofconduct,” said AITC National Spokesperson Derek O`Brien.

Trinamool, he said, has obtained footage ofModi`s rally at Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh where his portrait in the backdrophad visuals of a place of worship.

Addressing an election meeting at Bongaonin North 24 Paraganas district bordering Bangladesh during the day, Banerjeesaid “the person who is talking about racial riots, he has no right to becomethe prime minister. This is a violation of the model code of conduct. Insteadhe should be sent to jail with ropes tied to his waist. He should be arrested.”

Banerjee, who did not name Modi, told therally “(He) has become a gas balloon. Punch it, the gas will come out and the balloonwill get squeezed.”

Banerjee, who had accused Modi of inflamingthe situation in Assam`s BTAD areas where recent violence has claimed 34 lives, blamed him of trying to divide Bengalis and non-Bengali in Bengal.

She did not refer to his illegalBangladeshi immigrants remark but said “touch them and then you will see. Wewill fight every inch”.

“(He is) Insulting the people of Bengal,”Banerjee said. On an earlier occasion she had claimed that Modi did not knowhistory.

“He does not know that speaking in Bangladoes not make one a Bangladeshi. Modi wants to divide Bengalis andnon-Bengalis. Anyone who speaks in Bangla across India is branded aBangladeshi. This is discrimination,” she had said.

Those who want to throw Bengalis out of India will get a fitting reply in ballots: Didi at Bangaon

Trinamool Chairperson Ms. Mamata Banerjee today addressed a rally at Bongaon in support of the party candidate Kapil Krishna Thakur. Speaking at the rally she criticised Narendra Modi for trying to divide Bengalis and non Bengalis and threatening to send Bengalis out of India after May 16. She said that not one Bengali will be touched, she was the protector of the people.

Excerpts from the Chairperson`s speech:

Bongaon constituency has seen a wave ofdevelopment since the time I was the Railway Minister. Not only was theIndo-Bangladesh Train Service started, business hubs have been built and manyother projects have also been initiated here.

At this juncture, while campaigning for ourcandidates, we can clearly see that CPI(M) has sold its ideology to the BJP andthe Congress. You must ensure that CPI(M)-BJP-Congress lose theirdeposits.  Some people want to divideBengalis and non-Bengalis. They want to send Bengalis away from India. Peoplewho are living in India since 1971 are the rightful citizens of India. They arenot refugees.

Bengal has been insulted. Bengalis and nonBengalis have been insulted. Hindus and Muslims have been insulted. Innocentsare being killed in Assam mercilessly. Those who are committing such crimes arenot human beings. I am your protector. I will ensure you can sleep in peace atnight. Not one person in Bengal will be touched.

We are not dependent on those who playdivisive politics for our livelihood. We will not allow them to divide Bengal. Some media houses have become dalalsof Modi. Did CPI(M) and Congress condemn Modi for his comments against Bengal?Did any media house condemn him? Confidence is good. Over-confidence is not. They should remember that.

CPI(M), BJP and Congress have formed anexus. They have an understanding to divide votes. People have not forgottenthe atrocities committed by the Left for 35 years. They incurred huge debts. They ruined the future of the youth of Bengal. They give gyan only on TV studios. What have they done for the people? TheCentre is taking away all our money. Why is everyone so jealous of Bengal?

Modi`s hands are stained with blood ofinnocents. No one is a refugee in Bengal. Everyone is a rightful citizen ofIndia. Comrade dangabaj must rememberthat. Comrade Modi does not know the history of India and Bengal. He does notknow the story of 1971. There is nothing called PM candidate. PM is selected byMPs after election.

Bengal secured the No. 1 rank among Statesin the 100-Days Work Scheme. They know that if we have a strong voice in Delhi, they cannot do whatever they want. That is why they want to stop us. The morethe Opposition maligns us, the stronger will be the support of people for us.

Saradha was founded when Buddha babu wasCM. Chit funds were founded when Jyoti babu was CM. These were created byCPI(M), now they are trying to hide their wrongdoings. The CPI(M) mouthpiecestill takes money from chit funds as advertisements. Even prominent mediahouses in Bengal took advertisement from chit funds; now they are makingallegations against us.

Those who are talking about sending backthe refugees will get a fitting reply through ballot. We will not let anyonetouch you, we are always beside you. Good will prevail over the evil, do notworry.

Vote for joraphool, vote for Kapil Krishna Thakur.
