Sugata Bose speaks on the occasion of International Women’s Day

I appeal to you Madam Speaker, that one way or another please ensure that women have just representation in the Lok Sabha in the future.

Sonia Gandhi ji has already paid tribute to the women who took part in the Gandhian Satyagrahas. Madam Teacher has already mentioned the Rani of Jhansi and the women, very often very poor women working in rubber plantations who fought in the Rani of Jhansi Regiment of the Indian National Army.

I would simply add my tribute to women revolutionaries like Pritilata Waddedar of the Chittagong Armoury Raid and Kamala Devi Chattopadhyay, who went abroad and there, in the United States, she was the first to refuse to give up her seat in a train, long before Rosa Parks did the same thing on a bus.

So, these are the women whom we should remember and take as our inspiration and I wish to tell my women colleagues that because my name ends with an ‘A’, I often get letters addressed to ‘Ms Sugata Bose’ and I never object to that.

And especially on this 8th of March, I want to say that we will stand in solidarity with you and fight shoulder to shoulder with you to end gender discrimination in our country once and for all.

Tapas Mandal speaks on Railway Budget 2016

I am thankful to you for allowing me to speak on the Railway Budget and I am also thankful to my leader Ms. Mamata Banerjee. She was the Railway Minister for two times in the Union Cabinet and she did a wonderful job. After her departure from the Ministry, it remained vacant. She glorified the Ministry. She was the ornament of that Ministry. Right now, when we are looking at the Ministry, nobody is there who is really fighting for the common people of this country. Suresh Prabhu Ji, I think, has some management background. He has that kind of outlook and he has got nobody to satisfy. He pleased some sections of this country, including Maharashtra. The Government is all the time talking that it is looking towards eastern India but his Railway Budget has not reflected that.

West Bengal is deprived of getting anything from the Railway Budget 2016-17. Nothing has been given to the State of West Bengal. That is why, as an initial repercussion, our hon. Chief Minister told the media that it was a big zero. That was the first expression to the media. The Railway Minister announced a lot of things and unlike other Ministers, if we look towards the Budget Speech of the former Railway Ministers, all of them usually used to announce a lot of new trains and the survey of new lines, Suresh Prabhu Ji has set a new trend by not announcing any new train. I think this is a good step. What he has started may be helpful for the future of this country but right now, we are the elected Members of Parliament and we have some expectations. People have some expectations from us. By this way, we cannot please our constituency people. This is our compulsion. I request the hon. Railway Minister to look into the matter and when you go for presenting your next Budget, at least do something so that we can tell our people that Suresh Prabhu Ji has done a good thing.

Most of the times, you are talking about the cleanliness of the railway stations and trains. Most of the times, the railway stations, including town stations, urban stations, semi-urban stations and village stations, are very much ugly. The toilets and the urinals are very dirty.

Nobody can go there. These are fully neglected. People are not working there. So, when you are talking and giving more emphasis on cleanliness of the station, please ensure that the toilets, washrooms of the stations, be cleaned.

The bed-rolls, particularly, served for the higher classes of different express trains are not washed regularly or rather, I should say, not even washed. You give some instructions so that cleaned and washed bed-rolls should be provided to passengers because this is their legitimate demand.

The welcome decision is that there is no price-hike in this Budget. I welcome this decision. Then, announcement of Wi-Fi connection at 100 stations and in the coming years it would be increased to 400 stations is a very good decision and that can fulfill the aspirations of the youth of this country. There are a lot of poor passengers who really need the help of the Ministry. So, by announcing Deen Dayal coaches, you can cater to the needs of the everincreasing demand of the poor sections of our community. In the tropical areas, particularly in the southern part of our country, the railway stations do not have water freezers. It is a long pending demand of the passengers. So, please ensure to install water freezers at each and every station. This is the minimum requirement of the passengers.

The Railways has a bad reputation of running the trains late. This is also a very important aspect. Please look into this matter so that the trains can run on time. People say that the staff members of the Railways are discourteous. Their behaviour is not passenger-friendly.

So, the staff members of the Railways need to be trained and they should be provided with some other facilities so that in future, in due course of time, they can behave friendly with passengers and other people.

Now, if we look back to our State, West Bengal, what have you done? What have you given? You have given nothing except 12 road-over-bridges, one doubling of the existing rail line, a new metro route in Kolkata and two freight corridors from Kharagpur. I am happy that you have given two road-over-bridges in my constituency, one is Simurali-Chakdaha and another is Birnagar-Badkulla. So, I am very much thankful to you.

But I have some other compulsions. Mr. Minister, many a time, I wrote letters to you regarding my constituency problems but even after a long period of two years, I did not get anything or any action from your end. First of all, what I mentioned was that the Ministry should take up the Ranaghat sub-way, and right now the sub-way is almost completed and that is made only for the use of pedestrians.

But the legitimate demand of the people of this town is to make this motorable because Rangaghat town is divided into two halves by the railway station and the railway lines. In the eastern part, there are no facilities.

In the western part of the city, hospitals, nursing homes, post office, college, banks—everything is there. So, when people are coming from the eastern part to western part for taking treatment, they are not coming easily because almost all the time the railway gate is being closed. That is why, there is a legitimate demand to make this sub-way motorable. You assured me verbally but still this work is pending. I request, through you, Sir, that before the completion of the subway, please make the sub-way motorable so that at least the small ambulances can come from the eastern side to the western side.

There are a number of unmanned level crossings in my Constituency. There are a number of railway stations at Bahirgachi. There is another important unmanned level crossing between Ranaghat and Coupers Halt. So, these need to be looked into so that the people will not be in danger.

You are talking about safety, security, etc., of the railways. So, there are a number of unmanned rail crossings under my constituency.

Please look into the matter and announce something in the next budget. The Union Government established an AIIMS at Kalyani. It is 50 kilometres away from Kolkata. It needs to be connected through metro stations because there is AIIMS, there is IISER and there are a number of institutes. So, a new metro route from Barrackpur to Kalyani is required. This was surveyed by the earlier Government. You do something so that this viable project can be completed in course of time.

Ghugia is another proposed halt station between Payradanga and Chakdaha. It is also a long pending demand. The former Minister inaugurated that station but still the work is not being done. It was just an announcement. I request the hon. Minister to start the work on Ghugia halt.

Then, a huge problem is being faced by daily passengers. The former Minister took a decision to increase the compartment numbers from nine to 12, which is still pending. Most of the stations are completed and can accommodate 12 compartments. But still the number of compartments in trains has not been increased. I request you to increase the same so that the increasing number of passengers can safely travel in them.

There is a huge rush during office hours. Millions of people travel during office hours in Sealdah-Bongaon section and Sealdah- Ranaghat section. I request you to increase the number of passenger trains so that the ever-increasing number of office goers can travel through them and get satisfied by your announcement of new trains in peak hours.

The two important stations – Nabadwip Dham and Shantipur Dham to Vaishnav Dham temple – fall under my constituency. I request you to announce them as heritage stations because millions of pilgrims go there and attend the festivals. I request you to extend more facilities to these stations.

With this, I conclude.

Thank you.

15 points from Mamata Banerjee’s interview on March 4, 2016

15 points from Mamata Banerjee’s interview on March 4, 2016

1. We are always with people. We believe in working for people. We never delay our work. We fulfill the promises we make. We are proud of our workers and leaders at grassroots. Our workers are our assets. They are ready for the election. While others engage in slander, we work silently.

2. Look at the three-tier Panchayat, I believe democracy has three tiers: People > Political Parties > Support of the Electorate.

3. I had said way back in 1997 that CPM and Congress have an unofficial understanding. We had decided to break away from the ‘watermelon’ Congress in 1997. They gave up ideology to help CPM.

4. A fight sans ideology and principles is meaningless. A political party without ideology can never have people’s support. I do not support BJP because of their communal politics. I do not support CPM because of their politics of violence. If someone has a strong presence, why would they go for an alliance?

5. In 2001, Congress put up dummy candidates against us. This is not alliance. This is politics of opportunism for survival. They are facing existential crisis. Marxist-Congress Party are running a joint venture. Why is the Congress not fighting in alliance with CPM in Kerala?

6. Bengal has turned around now. Bengal will show the way for Centre in future. CPM was in power for 34 years but didn’t work for the State. Cong/BJP have been in power at Centre but didn’t help Bengal.

7. A section of the media is working at the behest of some Opposition parties. Some people are opposed to me because I am not an intellectual, cannot speak good English and were born in a humble family. My life is one of struggle. People are my family. Working for people is my responsibility.

8. I have felt insulted, sad and sometimes angry when some people spread canards about my credentials. I believe in God. I know one day truth about chit funds will come out. It was during CPM rule that chit funds started. Our leaders have been arrested by misuse of power. No proof has been given against them.

9. People are intelligent. I will fight the war of votes not the war of courts. People are the ultimate judge in a democracy. Chit funds were set up during CPM rule. Congress and BJP were in power in Centre. Why did they not act? Where was SEBI?

10. There is religious intolerance. There is verbal intolerance. It is a trend now to hound someone you do not like. Artistes, industrialists, social workers, performers are living in fear because of intolerance.

11. The stories of factional feud in Trinamool are a creation of the media. Disputes between two clubs, family quarrels are being projected as internal party squabble. During our rule, even ruling party members are arrested if they break the law. This was not the case earlier. Political violence has decreased in Bengal after 2011. Our slogan was ‘Bodla noy, bodol chai‘ (Change not revenge).

12. Kamduni has got justice. Tapasi Malik was also raped and murdered. She is still waiting for justice. Kolkata is India’s safest metro city. Earlier even FIRs were not taken. There was no media back then. We have not forgotten Keshpur, Netai, Kandua, Nandigram… We have not forgotten the horrible cases of violence. Marichjhapi, Anandamargi, Singur, Bantala, Amta… Where was the media? Where are the footages?

13. Cyber-crime has become an issue now. We have set up 89 new police stations, 60 female police stations, 80 fast track courts.

14. What is wrong if clubs get money to improve their infrastructure? Even the CPM organised Hope 86. I spent Rs 1.4 lakh crore to pay off debts. See the latest report of Economic Survey and how Bengal is placed there. We have undertaken administrative reforms. We created Alipurduar district. Six more districts will be set up. Beds and medicines at government hospitals are free. 41 new multi super speciality hospitals are coming up.

15. We have a land bank. If anybody wants to start an industry, land is there. I will create more parks for IT. But we do not support SEZ. I try to help people as much as I can, in each and every respect. I am against SEZ. We are against FDI in multi-brand retail. We even walked out of central Government on the issue.

Didi Direct – An interview with Mamata Banerjee

Should we call you the Chief Minister or just Didi?

I prefer being called Mamata Di rather than Chief Minister.

Is your party ready for the upcoming election?

We are always with people. We believe in working for people. We never delay our work. We fulfil the promises we make. Our Manifesto is complete. It will be released next Friday. We are proud of our workers and leaders at grassroots. Our workers are our assets. They are ready for the election. While others engage in slander, we work silently. Just like a three-tier Panchayat,  I believe democracy has three tiers: People > Political Parties > Support of the Electorate.

What would you say about the Congress-CPM alliance?

I had said way back in 1997 that CPI(M) and Congress have an unofficial understanding. We had decided to break away from the ‘watermelon’ Congress (green on the outside, red on the inside) in 1997. They gave up ideology to help CPI(M). A fight without ideology and principles is meaningless. A political party without ideology can never have people’s support. I do not support BJP because of their communal politics. I do not support CPI(M) because of their politics of violence. If someone is in a strong position, why would they go for an alliance?

In 2001, Congress put up dummy candidates against us. This is not an alliance. This is the politics of opportunism for survival. They are facing an existential crisis. The Marxist and the Marxist-Congress Party are running a joint venture. Why is the Congress not fighting in alliance with CPI(M) in Kerala?  People from all walks of life have been given a ticket by us – doctors, sportspersons, journalists, singers, artistes. I believe in ethics. I do not believe in personal attacks. I have respect for Jyoti Basu, Atal ji, Asok Ghosh & others.

What do you expect in the coming days?

Bengal has turned around now in the last four years. Bengal will show the way to the Centre in fthe uture. CPI(M) was in power for 34 years but didn’t work for the State. Cong/BJP have been in power at the Centre but didn’t help Bengal. A section of the media is working at the behest of some Opposition parties. Some people are opposed to me because I am not an intellectual, cannot speak good English and was born in a humble family. My life has been one of struggle. People are my family. Working for people is my responsibility.

The candidature of Bhaichung Bhutia – was it a masterstroke?

Bhaichung Bhutia has more transparent credentials than many politicians. He is an asset of the country and has captained the national team.

Have you been angry or sad when slander have been directed towards you?

I have felt insulted, often sad and sometimes angry when some people spread canards about my credentials. I believe in God. I know one day the truth about chit funds will come out. They were started during CPI(M) rule. Our leaders have been arrested because of misuse of power. No proof has been given against them. People are intelligent. I will fight the war of votes not the war of courts. People are the ultimate judge in a democracy. Congress and BJP were in power at the Centre. Why did they not act? Where was SEBI?

What is your opinion on intolerance?

There is religious intolerance. There is verbal intolerance. It is a trend now to hound someone you do not like. Artistes, industrialists, social workers, performers, are living in fear today because of this intolerance.

The media is focusing on Trinamool for the wrong reasons…

A section of the media is working at the behest of some political parties is doing this. Some people are opposed to me because of who I am… as I told you before.

The stories of factional feud in Trinamool are a creation of the media. Disputes between two clubs, family quarrels are being projected as internal party squabbles. During our rule, even ruling party members were arrested if they break the law. This was not the case earlier. Political violence has decreased in Bengal after 2011. Our slogan was ‘Bodla noy, bodol chai‘ (Change not revenge).

Media puts me on trial even when I am not at fault.

Kamduni has got justice. Tapasi Malik (in Singur) was also raped and murdered. She is still waiting for justice. Kolkata is India’s safest metro city. Earlier FIRs were not even taken. There was no media back then. We have not forgotten (the political violence at) Keshpur, Netai, Kandua, Nandigram… We have not forgotten the horrible cases of political violence at Marichjhanpi, Anandamargi, Singur, Bantala, Amta… What did the media do then? Where is all the footage?

Look at cyber-crime. It has become a huge issue now… We have set up 89 new police stations, 60 female police stations and 80 fast track courts.

Why does the Leader of Opposition not meet the Chief Minister of Bengal once a month?

Even I have the same question. It happens in every State. We should be constructive. I have paid visits to Asok Ghosh or Jyoti Basu in the past. The Trinamool Congress decided to put an end to the culture of strikes and bandhs three years before we came to power. We believe in constructive and positive politics.

The State has a huge debt, so why clubs are being given money?

What is wrong if clubs get money to improve their infrastructure? Even the CPI(M) organised a soiree called Hope 86. The government spent Rs 1.4 lakh crore to pay off debts. See the latest report of the Economic Survey and how Bengal is placed there. We have undertaken administrative reforms. We created Alipurduar district. Six more districts will be set up. Beds and medicines at government hospitals are free. Forty one new multi super speciality hospitals are coming up.

Tell us about the Didi of the people…

I love people. Trinamool was created to serve the people. I do not take a salary as CM. I pay for the fuel for the car I use. I pay for my own tea at office. When we become good human beings only then will people accept us. Muri (puffed rice) is my favourite food. I like cooking. Call me for an apolitical interview sometime and I will share some recipes. (Then she happily shared three recipes including Dim-posto bora).

What is the scope of doing business in Bengal?

Bengal is the gateway to the North East. It is THE destination now. So many big ticket projects are coming up in the State, from coal blocks to power projects. We are developing an alternative route to connect north and south Bengal. Maldah and Balurghat airports are being developed; new helipads are being set up. We are Number One in small scale industries and skill development. A lot of scope is still there. We have a land map and a land bank. Bengal is a power surplus State. We have created an Employment Bank. It takes time for big industries to come.

How are you following up on the success of London visit or the Bengal Global Business Summit?

Investments worth Rs 2.45 lakh crore were received by us at the Bengal Global Business Summit  in 2015 of which projects worth Rs 1 lakh crore are already in process. Investments worth Rs 2.50 lakh crore came in during the Bengal Global Business Summit, 2016.

The latest Economic Survey by the Government of India shows inflation is lowest in Bengal. Just three per cent. Our GSDP is 12% and the GDP of India is 7.5% . Agricultural growth of India is 1.1% and that of Bengal is 5.5% . There is more. Bengal has India’s first greenfield airport. Bengal is being connected to Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan by road. Industrial growth of Bengal is 10.5% against India’s 7.3% .

We have provided services under various schemes to 8.5 crore out of the 9 crore people in Bengal. We have 100% coverage under mid-day meal scheme. The four top districts in Swachh Bharat Mission in India are from Bengal. Capital expenditure of our State has increased six times in four and a half years while planned expenditure has increased three times.

I have conducted 105 block-level administrative meetings. We have set up a Secretariat in north Bengal. Although the Centre has stopped giving funds for several schemes like ICDS or Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan, we are funding them.

No matter how much work you do, there will be always be scope to do even more work.

What have you done for Singur?

Our government brought a Bill to return the land in Singur, our first decision after coming to power. It is sub-judice. We live by our commitments. We won the case in the HC but now it has been challenged in Supreme Court. We give allowances to the farmers in Singur. We did our work. We are always close to the people of Singur. We do not support SEZ or any forcible acquisition of land.

Is the land law a major hurdle to attract industry?

We have a land bank. If anybody wants to start an industry, land is there. I will create more parks for IT. But we do not support SEZ. I try to help people as much as I can, in each and every respect. We are against FDI in multi-brand retail. We even walked out of central Government on the issue.

Do you want the people who had gone abroad to come back to Bengal?

Seventy eight lakh mandays were lost in Bengal before 2011 due to bandhs. Now the number of mandays lost is zero. Those who are in power, let them work. Do not destroy the infrastructure that is being built by our hard work. We built infrastructure in health, agriculture, transport, roads, education. Who gave these vandals the rights to destroy things and hamper progress. CPM could not do anything in 34 years and they are now hindering progress. I want the people who have gone abroad to come back here and do business in Bengal. There is peace here. See how we celebrate our religious festivals. They are always peaceful without any untoward incident.

We have set up 45 new colleges, 15 new universities, 171 Kisan Mandis and cold storages. 1500 new buses have been introduced.

We will keep working for people. We will come up with new innovative ways to specially fulfil the demands of new generation.

Do you miss anything?

The only thing I miss is my days in Parliament. I was always a keen listener to the debates.

Will you write an autobiography?

I have been writing continuously. I write whenever I can find the time.

Of the 294 seats how many do you expect Trinamool to win?

We have dedicated all 294 seats to the people of Bengal. They will decide how many they will bless us with. We have tried our best. People gave us a chance to serve. We tried hard and did our best.

I want to lead my life as a commoner. I have never aspired for power. I want to live like a commoner, like an LIP – ‘Less Important Person’.

Do you have any regrets?

We really want to do more work. Generate new ideas. New visions. We have had obstructions. Files were missing when we joined office in 2011. History will chronicle the amount of work we have done in the last four years.

Had we come to power in Bengal a few years ago, we could have done much more. I want to see Bengal as the best in the world.

I request the media to criticise me if you like… but do not ever insult Bengal.

Ahamed Hassan speaks on concern over increasing pendency of cases of crime against children at Rajya Sabha

Sir, jis tarah se yeh Sarkar Aligarh University mein garbar kar rahi hai, Aligarh University ke 5 centres ko bandh kar rahi hai, yeh Sarkar Children ke rights ka hanan kar rahi hai.

Sir, Today, I would like to draw the attention of the House towards the issue of mounting pendency of cases of crime against children in our country.

As in 2014, there were 1,25,000 cases pending for adjudication before courts in India. There has been a rise of 59 per cent in pending cases of crime against children since 2012; whereas, 74,400 cases were pending under various special and general laws. Similarly, since 2012, there has also been a steady spurt in crimes against children in the country, that is, in 2012, there were 38,172 cases registered with regard to crime against children, which has increased more than double in two years to 89,423 in 2014.

Sir, the menace of increasing crime and pendency of cases against children is primarily attributed to the delay in investigation of cases by the Police and adjudication of cases by the courts throughout the country. This twin-fold problem is not only affecting the development and a secure environment for children, but also negating the deterrent effect of enacting special laws for the protection of children in our country.

Sir, hence, I would request the Government to amend the special and general laws in the country to provide a speedy investigation and disposal of cases of crime against children by prescribing a time-bound investigation by the police and disposal of cases by the court in every offence committed against the children.

Thank you.

WB CM chairs meeting with Task Force to check price rise of vegetables at Nabanna

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday directed the traders to ensure that prices of essential commodities are not raised during the next two to three months. During the task force meeting at Nabanna on Thursday, Banerjee told the traders forum to work together to arrest price hike and directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to keep a vigil on the markets.

The prices of vegetables and fruits are somewhat stable during the last few months and the Chief Minister appreciated the traders for keeping the prices under check.

The next meeting of the task force has been called 15 days later wherein the prices would be checked. This apart, the West Bengal Chief Minister also cautioned traders against price hike of potatoes and urged bureaucrats to see to it that potato prices do not rise. Presently, potatoes (chandramukhi variety) cost Rs.14 per kg and the jyoti variety cost Rs.12 per kg.

Farmers are getting around Rs.10 per kg compared to Rs.3 that they got last year and are getting a good price for their produce. But if the prices go up, then the Government would interfere

The Government is taking all efforts to ensure that potato crisis does not arise.

In fact, Bengal has the lowest inflation among states according to the latest economic survey from the Central government. The Chief Minister said that it was the result of the state’s better performance in agriculture.

“The latest Economic Survey published by the Central Government has noted that our State has shown the lowest inflation rate in the country (less than 3%). This distinction could be achieved due to our continuous monitoring of prices of essential commodities in Task Force meetings held regularly,” Mamata Banerjee posted on the Facebook.

Sukhendu Sekhar Roy addresses the Motion of thanks on the President’s Address

Sir, adarniya rashtrapati ji ka abhibhashan jo pesh kiya gaya uska samarthan karta hu. lekin vastav me ye sarkar ka report card hai. jo report card me rashtrapati ji ne 81 paragraph me sarkar ki jo so called achievements hai wo achievements ke baare me bataya gaya.

Kuchh bhakt log hai jo Hanuman Chalisha parte hain. Aur Rashtrapatiji ka bhasan main 81 paragraphs hain, agar nau jor deteto ek shaw ban jaata. Sarkar ka Shatnam ban jate aur Sarkar ka Shatnaam ham gaate rahte.

Sir, yeh avibhasan sarkar ki prashansa se bhare hue hai. Iss main kya nahi hai. Bullet train bhi hai aur train main bio-toilet ke bhi charcha bhi hain. Sir, isme LNG bhi hain aur LED bulb bhi hain, kayakalp bhi hai, mayakalp bhi hain.

Agar koi dhyan se yeh abhivasan pare, kayakalp to zaroor dhund nikalega lekin mayakalp nahi dhoond nikalega kyun ki nahi hai lekin ek soch hai. Maya bhi hai kalpana bhi hai. Ek myth bhi hai, dream bhi hai.

Kuyn ki kal me shun rahata tha, J P Nadda Saab, hamara Health Minister jinhone is discussion ko initiate kiya. Inka bhashan shunte shunte mera dhyan doosri taraf chala giya. Pichle December 2015 mein Health Minister jo Helath Reprt pesh kiya tha usme keya hai, main do-teen bullet point main parna chahta hun –

1. 55% of Indian women aged between 15 and 49 have anemia or low blood cell count.
2. Over 38% of children have stunted growth and 18.6% children below three years have low birth weights that is under 2.5 Kg
3. Malnutrition is such that only 50.5% of infants of 6 to 35 months receive solid, semi solid or soft food. Others do not get.
4. 44.7% of girls aged between 15 to 18 have low basal metabolic rate.
5. Only 21.3% of our children under three years of age receive supplementary food under ICDS programmes, 21 days a month.

Health Minister ka yeh achievement hai. Sir, is avibhasan mein Mudra Bank ke bare mein kaha gaya, Jan-Dhan Yojna ke bare mein kaha gaya. Lekin, hamara Hindustan mein jo nationalized banks hai, uska halat kya hai? Bankfail hone wala hai. Second World War ke bad bahut banks fail ho gaye the. Abhi aisa halaty paida ho gaya. NPA 3.7 lakhs. Kisine paisa kha liya, inka koi jawab nahi hai. Koi charcha nahi hai. Jo big players hai, big fish hai, jo janta ke saare paisa kha liya, usko kaise pakra jayega, iska bare mein koi charcha nahi hai.

Sir, hamare neta Derek O’Brien ihan bahut bistaar se bat kiya. Ye abhbhashan ke upar ne unhoina tippni kiya hai. Abhi mei utna aur bistaar nahi jaana chahta hun. Lekin, ant mein aapke samne Naya daud film ka kucch kaliya pesh karna chahta hun aur aapeke madhyam se unh chanh kaliyo se main Sarkar se agraha karungaki usko dhyan rakhekiunki yeh sirf gaana nahi, yeh zindegi ka sangeet hai aur hare k insane ko aur Sarkar ko bhi dhyan mein rakhna chahiye –

Reet aur riwaj, sab tumhare saath
Dharm aur samaj, sab tumhare saath
Aapne saath keya, dhul aur dhuan
Aaj kya hain tum, nochlo juan
Aanewala daud lega sab hisab

Mere kehne ka matlab hai is gaan ke madhyam se, aap haamein hisaab mein mat rakhiye lekin aane wala daud ko toh fikr kijiye, kiunki unke paas aapko jawab to dena hi parega. Chunao ke baad bhi dene parega, chunao ke pehle bhi dene parega, har samay dene parega. Aj sare Hindustan ko jo halad hain, har pal mein koi na koi jayga asantosh payda ho raha hai. Isko rukhne ke liye keya tarika nikala jaye aap sochiye.

Main to kabhi kabhi ek ajib sa bhul bhulaiya mein fas jata hun. Keya ho raha hai desh mein. Is bhulbhulaiya se humko nikaliye, janta ko nikaliye.

15 points from Derek O’Brien’s speech on Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address

15 points from Derek O’Brien’s speech on Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address

1) The President’s speech was 5482 words. How I wish it was 5486 words! I was looking for four words – diversity, tolerance, communal harmony. They weren’t there.

2) The PM did a hatchet job on MNREGA last year. But this year, the tune was a little different. Still, MNREGA funds have been stopped to many states. Bengal is right up there on MNREGA

3) India’s GDP growth is 7.3%. Very good, but in Bengal, we’re growing at 12.5%. The lowest rate of inflation in India is in Bengal: 3%.

4) You say you trust the poor, if you say you trust the farmers, what happened to the Land Acquisition Bill? We’ve been asking from day one, please withdraw the Land Acquisition Bill. Why the delay?

5) We will debate this for 12 hours. In these 12 hours, 12 farmers will die in India. While India’s agri-GDP grew at 1.1%, in Bengal, agriculture grew at 5.5%.

6) The 1984 riots happened under the Congress’ watch . The 2002 riots happened under the BJP’s watch . And it is these two who indulge in what Barkha Dutt calls the “chessboard of competitive communalism”.

7) The Government gives with one hand, but from the States, it takes with two hands. So many centrally funded schemes have been stopped and the States have been paying higher percentage in the schemes.

8) If this Government talks about federalism, I beseech them, ask us how to do it, we will tell you how to do it. Bengal provides medicines and healthcare free of cost at all State hospitals. Ask us how to do it, we will tell you how to do it. Bengal is number one in this country in child immunisation. Ask us how to do it, we will tell you how to do it. Eighty-two Fair-Price Diagnostic Centres, 109 Fair-Price Medicine Shops – again I say, ask us how to do it, we will tell you how to do it.

9) Youth is the future of our country. If we are saying youth is the future of our country, then my friends in the Government , why are you stifling the youth, why are you stifling intellectual freedom? Instead of empowering the youth, the Government is throwing the youth into jails.

10) The President’s Address says the Government has started yielding results on black money. Yes, but they are bad results, as bad as UPA II.

11) There is a story that RSS has a unique medical school where they don’t teach you gynaecology or cardiology. They teach you “Video-Doctor-ology”

12) When you haven’t delivered on jobs, when you haven’t delivered on farmers, when you haven’t delivered on manufacturing, when you haven’t delivered on election promises, what do you do? You change the narrative.

13) The Congress spoke about ‘Fair and Lovely’ We are talking about ‘Close Ups’ (between Congress and CPI(M)). I come from a State where we know what stifling of education, stifling of intellectual freedom is all about, because for 34 years- the party decided who would teach, the party decided what you would learn, the party decided how you would think, the party decided which comrade would be the VC, the party even decided…how to make a blue sky red. With blood.

14) Pandit Nehru summed up the Left very well: “The Communist Party’s unfortunate association with violence encourages a certain evil tendency in human beings”. I am a confirmed enemy of Communist party and I will remain so, I will remain so, I will remain so.

15) Political violence, Rajnoitik Hingsha, Rajniti Ka hingsa, political violence the A-Z of political violence, I can tell you the lexicon of political violence. The lexicon A-Z:

A – Ananda Margi Massacre, 1982: 17 Ananda Margis were killed in Kolkata
B – Bantala, 1990: 3 health officers were coming back from an immunization program, what happened?
C – Choto Angaria, 2001: 11 Trinamool workers killed …
