Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wished the people a very happy and prosperous Eid after attending a programme at Red Road on Thursday.

She said: “I wish a happy and prosperous Eid to all peace loving people. The morning of Eid brings the day of happiness for all. I would like to wish happy Eid to the people all across the world.”

She maintained: “Bengal will show the way to peace. I pray for good health and prosperity of everyone.”Giving the message of brotherhood and unity, Banerjee said: “We all will stay together and spread the message of peace.”

তিনি বলেন, “আমি সকলকে খুশির ঈদের শুভেচ্ছা জানাচ্ছি। ঈদের এই সকাল সকলের জন্য খুশি নিয়ে আসুক”।

তিনি আরও বলেন “আগামী দিনে বাংলাই বিশ্বকে শান্তির পথ দেখাবে। সবাই খুব ভালো থাকুন, সুন্দর থাকুন, সুস্থ থাকুন”। ঐক্য ও শান্তির বার্তা দিতে গিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “আমরা সকলে একসঙ্গে থাকব এবং শান্তির বার্তা ছড়িয়ে দেব”।

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today launched a State-wide drive, ‘Safe Drive, Save Life,’ to bring down road accidents and bring in better traffic measures, at Nazrul Manch.

The Transport Department, along with the police, with the help of other departments of the State Government and agencies, will undertake the drive. The main idea behind taking up such a drive is to bring down the number of accidents that take place almost every day due to reckless driving.

The drive will make people aware about road safety measures. Both pedestrians and drivers need to be aware about certain facts to avoid road accidents.

Both in the city and in the districts, the police will be playing an important role along with the Transport Department in bringing down the rate of accidents through the carrying out of the drive.

Already banners and posters carrying the message ‘Safe Drive, Save Life’ have come up in various parts of Kolkata.

 

Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:

  • People often ignore safety regulations, thus causing road accidents.
  • Life is precious. Every life lost is sad and tragic.
  • Not everyone violates discipline, but the price of one’s wrong actions is often paid by many of the uninvolved.
  • If Bengal can become a model for Sabuj Sathi and Kanyashree, why not for ‘Safe Drive Save Life’?
  • These days, there are many incidents of riding bikes without helmets; some young people race with bikes on flyovers at night.
  • Lawlessness cannot be tolerated; we cannot allow it.
  • Motor vehicle laws are framed by the Centre; States must also have the power to make such laws.
  • We will raise the issue of road safety in Parliament; we will not allow interference in the federal structure.
  • These days, the Centre is taking away all our money in the name of imposing some cess or the other.
  • Like in Kolkata, we have to ensure road safety in the districts and on national highways too.
  • Overloading and rough driving will not be allowed; riding without helmets must be discouraged.
  • We must sensitise people regarding road safety and our ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • Local clubs, folk artistes and young people must spread the message of the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • We must popularise the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative on Twitter, Facebook and other social media.
  • We will request Durga Puja committees to promote the ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ initiative.
  • We will install more CCTVs to monitor road safety.
  • ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ is a movement and the Government will do everything possible to make roads safer.
  • After one year, we will reward the blocks with the least number of accidents and penalise those with the most accidents.

সড়ক নিরাপত্তা নিয়ে নতুন উদ্যোগ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের

রাজ্যে দুর্ঘটনা ক্রমবর্ধমান হওয়ায় উদ্বিগ্ন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়৷ দুর্ঘটনা নিয়ে রাজ্যের মানুষকে সচেতন করতে এবার নিজেই সচেতনতার স্লোগান ‌বেঁধে দিলেন তিনি৷ স্লোগানটি হলঃ ‘সেফ ড্রাইভ, সেভ লাইফ’ (SAFE DRIVE, SAVE LIFE)৷ অর্থাৎ নিরাপদে গাড়ি চালিয়ে গেলে চালক এবং পথচারী উভয়েরই অকালে প্রাণ যাবে না৷ আজ থেকে চালু হল এই অভিযান।

কলকাতা ও রাজ্য পুলিশের শীর্ষব্যক্তিত্বদের নিয়ে পরিবহণ দফতর মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া স্লোগান সামনে রেখে প্রচার অভিযান শুরু করছে। এই প্রকল্পের একটি ‘রোডম্যাপ’ তৈরি করা হবে বলে পরিবহণ দফতর সূত্রে খবর।

কলকাতা সহ অন্যান্য সব জেলায় রাজ্য পরিবহন দফতর ও পুলিশ মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া এই স্লোগান সামনে রেখে বিশেষ অভিযানে নামছে৷ উল্লেখ্য, এর আগে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর নিজের হাতে আঁকা প্রতীক দিয়ে কন্যাশ্রী প্রকল্প চালু হয়েছিল৷ এবং সেই প্রকল্প ইউনিসেফ-সহ গোটা বিশ্বে আজ সমাদৃত৷

বস্তুত, দুর্ঘটনা রুখতে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর দেওয়া এই স্লোগানও যে আগামীদিনে গোটা দেশেই সমাদৃত হবে তা মেনে নিয়েছেন রাজ্যের একাধিক পরিবহন সংস্থার শীর্ষব্যক্তিত্বরা৷

কলকাতার পাশাপাশি সমস্ত ন্যাশনাল ও স্টেট হাইওয়ের দু’পাশ জুড়ে এবং কলকাতার সমস্ত রাস্তায় ইতিমধ্যেই এই স্লোগানের হোর্ডিং দেওয়া হয়েছে৷ একইসঙ্গে স্কুল-কলেজ, এবং সরকারি ও বেসরকারি প্রতিষ্ঠানেও ‘SAFE DRIVE, SAVE LIFE’ স্লোগান নিয়ে মানুষকে সচেতনত করার কর্মসূচি নেওয়া হবে৷

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ:

  • অনেক সময় আমাদের অসচেতোনতার জন্য দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে
  • প্রতিটি জীবন মূল্যবান। প্রত্যেকটি মৃত্যু দুঃখজনক
  • সবাই শৃঙ্খলা লঙ্ঘন করে না, কিন্তু কারো কারো ভুলের মাশুল দিতে হয় সকলকে
  • সবুজসাথী, কন্যাশ্রীতে যদি বাংলা মডেল হতে পারে তাহলে সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ কর্মসূচীতে নয় কেন?
  • হেলমেট না পরে বাইক চালানোর কারণে দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। আজকাল রাতে ফ্লাইওভার গুলোতে অনেকে বাইক রেস করছে
  • অরাজকতা সহ্য করা যাবে না. আমরা এসব বরদাস্ত করব না
  • আমাদের ট্রাফিক আইন পরিবর্তন করতে হবে
  • মোটর ভেহিকেল আইন কেন্দ্র তৈরি করে। রাজ্যগুলিরও এই ক্ষমতা থাকা উচিত
  • সড়ক নিরাপত্তার বিষয়টা তৃণমূল পার্লামেন্টে তুলবে। আমরা যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামোতে হস্তক্ষেপ বরদাস্ত করব না
  • এখন কেন্দ্র নতুন কিছু সেস চালু করছে আর আমাদের থেকে সব টাকা কেটে নিয়ে চলে যাচ্ছে
  •  এখন কলকাতার সিগ্ন্যাল সিস্টেম অনেক উন্নত হয়েছে
  • কলকাতার মত সব জেলা এবং জাতীয় সড়কগুলিতেও নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে
  • ওভারলোডিং এবং রাফ ড্রাইভিং আমরা বরদাস্ত করব না
  • সেফ ড্রাইভ সেভ লাইফ কর্মসূচীর মাধ্যমে আমরা জনগণকে সংবেদনশীল করব

The West Bengal Forest Department has launched an SMS-based early warning system to prevent elephant attacks.

Forest Department employees are being trained on how to identify rogue elephants and immobilise them when they start causing damage. These employees will act as the first line of defence before experts reach the spot.

The State is procuring at least 10 tranquilliser guns. Two rescue and rehabilitation centres are also coming up, one each in the northern and southern parts of the State.

An Elephant Movement Coordination Committee (EMCC) has been set up too, which is monitoring the daily movements of elephant herds as well as solitary elephants.

হাতির হানা রুখতে এস এম এসের মাধ্যমে সতর্কবার্তা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা সরকারের

হাতির হানা রুখতে রাজ্য বন দপ্তর একটি নতুন উদ্যোগ নিয়েছে। এবার থেকে আগে থেকে এস এম এসের মাধ্যমে সতর্কবার্তা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার পরিকল্পনা করেছে বন বিভাগ।

একটি হাতি যখন ক্ষতি করছে তখন তাকে কিভাবে নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে হয় সে ব্যাপারে বন বিভাগের কর্মচারীদের প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া শুরু হয়েছে। বিশেষজ্ঞদের স্পটে পৌঁছাতে তারা একটি প্রতিরক্ষামূলক লাইন হিসেবে কাজ করবে।

রাজ্য কমপক্ষে ১০টি ঘুমের ওষুধের বন্দুকের ব্যবস্থা করেছে। উত্তর ও দক্ষিণবঙ্গে একটি করে উদ্ধারকারী ও পুনর্বাসন কেন্দ্র তৈরি করা হবে।

একটি এলিফ্যান্ট মুভমেন্ট কো-অর্ডিনেশন কমিটি তৈরি করা হবে। এই কমিটি হাতির দৈনন্দিন চলাফেরার ওপর নজর রাখবে।

Soon, colleges across West Bengal will have separate toilets for transgender students.

As a step towards adddressing the concerns of the transgender community and helping them earn social acceptance, the coordination committee for West Bengal Transgender Development Board, formed by the Mamata Banerjee Government, had recommended setting up separate toilets or modifying existing ones for transgender students at all State-run and State-aided colleges.

Following the recommendation, the State Higher Education Department, in a letter dated June 30, directed all college principals to build separate toilets for the ‘third gender.’

 

বাংলার কলেজে রূপান্তরকামীদের জন্য আলাদা শৌচালয়ের ভাবনা রাজ্য সরকারের

খুব শীঘ্রই বাংলার সমস্ত স্কুল, কলেজ গুলিতে রূপান্তরকামীদের জন্য আলাদা শৌচালয়ের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে।

রূপান্তরকামীদের সবরকম সামাজিক স্বীকৃতি দেওয়ার জন্য মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের সরকার একটি ট্রান্সজেন্ডার উন্নয়ন বোর্ড গঠন করেছে। বর্তমানে রাজ্যের সব কলেজে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য আলাদা শৌচাগার স্থাপনের সুপারিশ করা হয়েছে।

সুপারিশ অনুযায়ী, রাজ্য উচ্চশিক্ষা দপ্তর একটি চিঠির মাধ্যমে আগামী ৩০ জুনের মধ্যে সব কলেজের প্রিন্সিপালদের রূপান্তরকামীদের জন্য নির্মিত পৃথক টয়লেট নির্মাণের নির্দেশ দেন।

The West Bengal Government has taken up a project to set up three biotechnology hubs across the State, which is aimed to bring in more biotechnology innovations to the State, thereby improving the socio-economic life of the people.

The Biotechnology Department of the State has already taken up an elaborate scheme to not only tie up with other departments like Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Processing to increase the productivity and quality of various products, but to also provide germ-free food to the common people.

The three proposed biotechnology hubs will come in Bardhaman, Kalimpong and Medinipur districts; they will help in the co-ordination of various departments with the Biotechnology Department in a better way.

West Bengal has a rich biodiversity of crops, vegetables, fruits, flowers and other plant resources.

 

বাংলায় তিনটি বায়োটেকনোলজি হাব স্থাপনের পরিকল্পনা রাজ্যের

রাজ্য সরকার তিনটি বায়োটেকনোলজি হাব স্থাপনের পরিকল্পনা গ্রহণ করেছে। এর প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য হল রাজ্যের জৈবপ্রযুক্তি জনগণের আর্থ-সামাজিক জীবন উন্নত করা।

রাজ্যের বায়োটেকনোলজি বিভাগ ইতিমধ্যে একটি বিশদ প্রকল্প গ্রহণ করেছে। শুধুমাত্র কৃষি, মৎস্যচাষ, খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াকরণ বিভাগকে একসাথে করার জন্যও নয় খাদ্যের গুনগত মান ও পরিমান বৃদ্ধি করতে এবং মানুষকে জীবাণু মুক্ত খাদ্য প্রদান করার জন্য এইসব প্রকল্প গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে।

তিনটি প্রস্তাবিত বায়োটেকনোলজি হাব তৈরি হওয়ার প্রস্তাব এসেছে। এগুলি তৈরি হবে বর্ধমান, কালিম্পং এবং মেদিনীপুরে। এর ফলে বায়োটেকনোলজির সঙ্গে বিভিন্ন বিভাগের সমন্বয় তৈরি হবে।

পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ফসল, সবজি, ফল, ফুল এবং অন্যান্য উদ্ভিদ সহ জীববৈচিত্র্য সমৃদ্ধ।

The State Tourism Department will set up a tourism hub in Bhorer Aalo, formerly known as Gajoldoba, in North Bengal, the State Tourism Minister, Goutam Deb, said on Wednesday.

He called this the biggest such hub in the country and said that the estimated cost of the project would be around Rs 300 crore, of which Rs 200 crore would be spent to improve the infrastructure. The total area of the hub is 208 acres.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had renamed the area Bhorer Aalo. Tourists can enjoy the sight of Kanchenjungha on a bright sunny day, the rivers Teesta and Torsa, and the beautiful forests.

The place is likely to be a major tourist destination in the State by 2017. Development will be carried out in phases, Goutam Deb said. A star hotel will also come up. There will be a mini golf course and facilities for adventure sports, including rafting on the river Teesta.

 

৩০০ কোটি টাকায় একটি পর্যটন হাব তৈরি হবে গাজলডোবায়

রাজ্য পর্যটন বিভাগ একটি পর্যটন হাব গঠন করবে যার নাম ‘ভোরের আলো’। এটি তৈরি হবে উত্তরবঙ্গের গাজলডোবায়। বুধবার পর্যটন মন্ত্রী গৌতম দেব একথা জানান।

তিনি জানান, এটি দেশের বৃহত্তম পর্যটন হাব। এই প্রকল্পের জন্য বরাদ্দ খরচের পরিমান প্রায় ৩০০ কোটি টাকা। যার মধ্যে ২০০ কোটি টাকা পরিকাঠামো উন্নত করার জন্য ব্যয় করা হবে। এটি তৈরি হবে ২০৮ একর জমির ওপর।

মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এই এলাকার নামকরণ করেছেন ‘ভোরের আলো’। পর্যটকরা রোদজ্জ্বল দিনে তিস্তা, তোর্সা নদী, বন জঙ্গলের সঙ্গে কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘার অপরূপ দৃশ্য উপভোগ করতে পারবেন।

২০১৭ সালের মধ্যে এই জায়গাটি একটি জনপ্রিয় পর্যটন স্থানে পরিণত হবে। গৌতম দেব জানান, উন্নয়নের ধারা অব্যাহত থাকবে। একটি হোটেলও এবং একটি মিনি গলফ কোর্সও তৈরি হবে।

Like every year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today inaugurated the famous Kolkata Rath Yatra organised by ISKCON.

Lakhs of devotees pulled the chariots of the deities – Lord Jagannath, Balaram and Subhadra – on the occasion.

ISKCON is celebrating its golden jubilee this year. The Chief Minister reached the temple at around 11 am, and after a darshan, flagged off the annual journey of the three deities.

The chariots, or raths, moved through the Minto Park crossing, Sarat Bose Road, Hazra Road, SP Mukherjee Road, Ashutosh Mukherjee Road, then on to Exide crossing, JL Nehru Road, Outram Road, to end at Brigade Parade Ground, where daily special darshan of Lord Jagananth from July 7 to 14 has been arranged. Prasad will also be distributed during the darshans.

Cultural programmes, special contests for empowerment, a youth festival, and performances by Russian dancers and a Kolkata-based dance troupe will be held during the week-long festival. Students will hold classes on reducing stress and mental fatigue.

The Ulta Rath Yatra will start at noon on July 14, when the raths will return to the Albert Road temple. During the return journey, the chariots will pass through JL Nehru Road, Esplanade, SN Banerjee Road, CIT Road, Suhrawardy Avenue and Shakespeare Sarani, to finally end on Hungerford Street.

 

কলকাতায় রথযাত্রার উদ্বোধন করলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আজ ইস্কনের রথ যাত্রার উদ্বোধন করলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়।

এই বছর সুবর্ণজয়ন্তী উদযাপন করছে ইস্কন। সকাল ১১টা নাগাদ ইস্কনের মন্দিরে পৌঁছন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এবং দর্শনের পর রথের রশি টেনে শুভ সূচনা করেন এই উৎসবের।

মিণ্টো পার্ক, শরৎ বোস রোড, হাজরা রোড, হাজরা ক্রসিং, এস পি মুখার্জি রোড, এটিএম রোড, এক্সাইড ক্রসিং, জওহরলাল নেহেরু রোড, আউট্রাম রোড হয়ে ব্রিগেড প্যারেড গ্রাউণ্ডে যায় রথটি।  ব্রিগেড প্যারেড গ্রাউণ্ডে ৭ই জুলাই থেকে জগন্নাথ দর্শনের ব্যবস্থা করা হবে, যেখানে প্রসাদও বিতরণ করা হবে।

সাংস্কৃতিক অনুষ্ঠান, যুব উত্সব জন্য বিশেষ প্রতিযোগীতা এবং রাশিয়ান নর্তকীদের পারফরমেন্স, সহ কলকাতা-ভিত্তিক নৃত্যোৎসবও অনুষ্ঠিত হয় এই সময়।

শিক্ষার্থীদের মানসিক ক্লান্তি কমানোর ওপর বেশ কিছু প্রশিক্ষণমূলক ক্লাস করানো হয়। আগামী ১৪ই জুলাই দুপুরে ‘উল্টো রথযাত্রা’ শুরু হবে সেখান থেকে যখন আলবার্ট রোড মন্দির ফিরে আসবে রথটি।

উল্টো রথযাত্রার দিন রথটি জওহরলাল নেহেরু রোড, ধর্মতলা, এস এন ব্যানার্জি রোড, সিআইটি রোড, সাদার্ন অ্যাভিনিউ ও শেক্সপিয়ার সরণি দিয়ে যাবে।

West Bengal Transport Corporation constituted

The integrated board of the three transport corporations has been named as the West Bengal Transport Corporation.

It may be recalled that an integrated board for Calcutta State Transport Corporation (CSTC), Calcutta Tramways Company (CTC) and West Bengal Surface Transport Corporation (WBSTC) was constituted to ensure better transport facility. The step was also taken to ensure that the losses incurred by the corporations could be reduced. The decision on integration of the three crucial transport corporations was taken on June 8.

The integrated board, with the new name, will also get its own logo and the transport department had approached Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to draw a logo for the West Bengal Transport Corporation.

The West Bengal Chief Minister had drawn logos of several projects of the transport department earlier, including one that of the Gatidhara scheme. Rachpal Singh, the MLA from Tarakeswar, was made the chairman of the integrated board for CSTC, CTC and WBSTC. Entally MLA Swarnakamal Saha was appointed the vice-chairman of the board. Nayna Bandyapadhyay, MLA from Chowringhee Assembly constituency and Sujit Bose from Bidhannagar Assembly constituency were inducted as the two directors of the newly formed board.

 

গঠিত হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম

তিনটি পরিবহণ সংস্থার সংযুক্তীকরণ করা হল।নয়া সরকারি পরিবহণ সংস্থার নাম হল পশ্চিমবঙ্গ পরিবহণ নিগম।

কলকাতা রাষ্ট্রীয় পরিবহণ নিগম (সিএসটিসি), কলকাতা ট্রাম কোম্পানি (সিটিসি), পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ভূতল পরিবহণ নিগমের সংযুক্তিকরণের পর রাজ্য সরকার নতুন সংস্থার নামকরণের সিদ্ধান্ত নিল।

নতুন নিগমের নতুন লোগোও তৈরি হচ্ছে। মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় বিশ্ব বাংলার লোগোকে সামনে রেখেই নয়া লোগো তৈরি করার জন্য পরিবহণমন্ত্রীকে নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন।

এই তিনটি নিগমকে এক করে চেয়ারম্যান পদে বসানো হয়েছে রচপাল সিংকে এবং ভাইস চেয়ারম্যান হলেন স্বর্ণকমল সাহা। এই ইন্টিগ্রেটেড বোর্ডের দুইজন পরিচালক হলেন চৌরঙ্গী বিধানসভার বিধায়ক নয়না বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় এবং বিধাননগরের বিধায়ক সুজিত বসু। পরিবহণ দপ্তর সূত্রে জানা গেছে, একটাই পরিচালন পর্ষদ থাকবে। তার ফলে তিনটি নিগমের কর্মীরাই একসঙ্গে কাজ করবেন।

Condemning the terror attack in Bangladesh, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said terrorists have no religion and everybody should unite to fight against terrorism.

“We condemn the act of terror in Bangladesh. We share their pain and agony and stand beside Bangladesh. Both West Bengal and Bangladesh share a deep cultural and humanitarian bond.

“If Bangladesh is happy then we are happy, if they are sad then we are also sad. On that night (when terrorists carried out the attack in Bangladesh), I had kept track of the happenings in Bangladesh,” Banerjee said in the state Assembly.

“We don’t comment on matters concerning other countries. We can’t interfere in matters of other countries. Our administration had alerted the bordering police stations. There are still places in the Indo-Bangladesh border where there is no fencing,” she said.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people that they should inform the police if they come across any suspicious people.

Referring to the BJP MLA’s comments of stopping Moitree Express if attack on minorities does not stop in Bangladesh, Banerjee said such statements should not be made.

“How can you make such comments that Moitree Express will be stopped.? Such kind of decisions are taken by the central government and not by any political party. Moitree Express has no relation with terrorism. We should not make such comments which hamper relations between the two countries. We should remember that terrorists have no religion,” she said.

She also said post the Dhaka attack, police in the state was on high alert.

 

সন্ত্রাসবাদীদের কোনও ধর্ম হয় না: বিধানসভায় মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

সোমবার বিধানসভায় বাংলাদেশের জঙ্গিহানার ঘটনার তীব্র নিন্দা করেণ মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। তিনি বলেন সন্ত্রাসবাদীদের কোন ধর্ম হয় না এবং আমাদের প্রত্যেকের উচিত সন্ত্রাসবাদীদের বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করা।

“যে কোনও মূল্যে ইন্দো-বাংলার প্রগতি ও শান্তি বজায় রাখতে হবে৷ মনে রাখবেন বাংলাদেশ ভাল থাকলে আমরা ভাল থাকি৷ ওপার বাংলা খারাপ থাকলে আমরা খারাপ থাকি৷ যেদিন বাংলাদেশে জঙ্গি হানা হল সেই রাতে আমি নজর রাখছিলাম পুরো ঘটনার ওপর’, বিধানসভায় একথা জানান মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, “অন্য দেশের বিষয় নিয়ে আমরা কোন কথা বলতে পারি না। আমাদের প্রশাসন সীমান্তবর্তী এলাকার সব পুলিশকে সতর্ক করে দেওয়া হয়েছে। এখনও ইন্দো-বাংলাদেশ সীমান্তে এখনও কাঁটাতারের বেড়া সম্পূর্ণ দেওয়া নেই।”

মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মানুষের কাছে আহ্বান জানান কোনরকম সন্দেহজনক কিছু দেখলে তাঁরা যেন সঙ্গে সঙ্গে পুলিশকে সেকথা জানান।

মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস বন্ধ করার জন্য দাবি তুলেছেন বিজেপি সভাপতি। এই প্রসঙ্গে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী বলেন, মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস বন্ধ করা যাবে না৷ ওই ট্রেনের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের জঙ্গিহানার কোনও সম্পর্ক নেই৷

“বিজেপির রাজ্য সভাপতি কেন মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস বন্ধ করার কথা বলছেন? এটা পুরোপুরি কেন্দ্রের সিদ্ধান্ত৷ মৈত্রী এক্সপ্রেস মানে দু’দেশের সম্প্রীতি, বন্ধুত্ব ও সুসম্পর্কের প্রতীক৷ এর সঙ্গে দু’দেশের আবেগ জড়িয়ে আছে৷ আমাদের মনে রাখা উচিত সন্ত্রাসবাদীরা কেবল সন্ত্রাসবাদী। তাদের জাত, ধর্ম, বর্ণ, রাজনীতি থাকতে পারে না। বিষয়টি নিয়ে কেউ যেন রাজনীতি না করেন৷ কথায় কথায় কেন সব কিছুতেই এত অসহিষ্ণু হব? প্রতিবেশী দেশ হিসাবে বাংলাদেশ খুবই বন্ধু দেশ৷ পরস্পরকে পরস্পরের প্রতি দায়িত্বশীল হতে হবে৷ আমাদের সবাইকেই দায়িত্বশীল আচরণ করতে হবে। এমন সমস্ত ঘটনায় রাজনীতির ইস্যুকে বাদ দিন৷ সদিচ্ছাকে গুরুত্ব দিতে হবে”, তিনি বলেন।

তিনি আরও বলেন “ঢাকায় হামলার পর সীমান্ত এলাকায় রেড এলার্ট জারি করা হয়েছে। আমরা চাই, আমাদের এখানে সম্প্রীতি, শান্তিশৃঙ্খলা বজায় থাকুক। আমরা বাংলাদেশের পাশে আছি। সাম্প্রদায়িক ও ধর্মীয় সম্প্রীতি বজায় রাখতে আমরা বদ্ধপরিকর।”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the week-long Van Mahotsav programme by planting tree saplings in New Town on July 14. The State forest department will plant 14,000 tree saplings as part of the programme. The state government has proposed to make New Town a Green City. West Bengal Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBHIDCO) has already taken steps to provide green cover to city with intensify eco-friendly measures to make the area pollution free.

The primary aim of HIDCO was to sell land and construct a road connecting Salt Lake. New Town looked like a desert with a couple of tall buildings coming up at different places. No steps were taken to plant trees along the road, now known as Biswa Banga Sarani. Many trees were uprooted and no policy was formulated to replace them.

However, the scenario changed after Mamata Banerjee became the chief minister in 2011. Eco Park, which she renamed as Prakriti Tirtha, has attracted more than 50 lakh people since its inception. The park has a water body which has been preserved. Road side trees have been planted and children’s park and senior citizens’ park have come up.

The area is now functioning as the lungs of Kolkata. Steps have already been taken to set up nurseries to raise tall trees which would be set up along the canal. Schemes have been taken to set up a dedicated pathway for cyclists and introduce electric buses and cars to reduce carbon emission. Green buildings are coming up in the area, where energy efficient measures are being taken. The HIDCO has also decided to replace sodium vapour lamps with LED lamps in phases.

 

১৪ই জুলাই বন মহোৎসবের সূচনা করবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী

আগামী ১৪ই জুলাই নিউ টাউন গাছের চারা রোপণ করে সপ্তাহব্যাপী বন মহোৎসবের উদ্বোধন করবেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। এই কর্মসূচিতে ১৪০০০ চারাগাছ রোপণ করার পরিকল্পনা রয়েছে রাজ্য বন বিভাগের। রাজ্য সরকার নিউ টাউনকে গ্রিন সিটি করার প্রস্তাব এনেছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গ রাষ্ট্র ও পরিকাঠামো উন্নয়ন কর্পোরেশন (WBHIDCO) ইতিমধ্যে শহরকে দূষণমুক্ত করতে পরিবেশ বান্ধব ব্যবস্থার ওপর জোরদার পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণ করেছে।

হিডকোর প্রধান উদ্দেশ্য হল জমি বিক্রি এবং সল্টলেককে জুড়ে দেওয়ার জন্য একটি সংযোগ পথ তৈরি করা। কয়েকটি বড় বাড়ি ছাড়া নিউ টাউন পুরো মরুভূমি মনে হত। বর্তমানে যে রাস্তাটি বিশ্ব বঙ্গ সরণি নামে পরিচিতসেখানে রাস্তা বরাবর গাছ লাগানোর কোন পদক্ষেপ  নেওয়া হয়নি। অনেক গাছ উপড়ে গেছে এবং সেগুলি পুনঃস্থাপন করার কোন নীতি প্রণয়ন হয়নি।

২০১১ সালে মাননীয়া মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ক্ষমতায় আসার পর চিত্রটা একেবারেই বদলে গেছে। ইকো পার্ক যার নাম দেওয়া হয়েছে প্রকৃতি তীর্থ এটি ৫০ লাখের বেশি মানুষকে আকর্ষণ করেছে। এখানে একটি সংরক্ষিত জলাশয় আছে। রাস্তার ধারে লাগানো হয়েছে ছত ছোট বিভিন্ন রকমের গাছ। ছোটদের জন্য ও বয়স্কদের জন্য একটি পার্ক তৈরি হবে।

কলকাতার মধ্যমণি এখন এই এলাকা। বড় গাছের সংখ্যা বাড়ানোর জন্য ইতিমধ্যেই ছোট ছোট চারা গাছ লাগানোর পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়েছে। এলাকায় গ্রিন বিল্ডিং স্থাপন করা হবে। এছাড়া সোডিয়াম ভেপার ল্যাম্প গুলির পরিবর্তে এল ই ডি ল্যাম্প লাগানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে হিডকো।
