At today’s 21 July Martyrs Day rally, senior Trinamool leadership asked party workers and supporters to always be by the side of the people and maintain discipline.

Subrata Bakshi:

For 23 long years Mamata Banerjee has been observing Martyrs Day on 21 July. She against the misrule and oppression of CPI(M) even when she was alone. Our next target is Tripura.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay:

We got 211 seats because people received fruits of development from Trinamool. Bengal has become a model for rest of India.

Abhishek Banerjee:

The turnout today shows that even two Brigades would have been less for this 21 July Sahid Dibas rally.In November 2014, BJP had called for “Bhaag Mamata Bhaag” from this location. They have been decimated by people. MLAs of Bishnupur and Gajole have joined us today. Congress cannot manage its own house and wants to fight Didi.

Partha Chatterjee:

We have to reach out to people, maintain discipline. There is no place for the errant in Trinamool Congress.

Suvendu Adhikari:

Development has won, smear campaign and conspiracies have been defeated in 2016 Assembly election.

২১শে জুলাইয়ের মঞ্চ থেকে মানুষের পাশে থাকার বার্তা

আজ ২১শে জুলাইয়ের মঞ্চ থেকে সিনিয়র তৃণমূল নেতারা দলের কর্মীদের উদ্দেশ্যে বেশ কিছু বার্তা দিয়েছেন।

দীর্ঘ ২৩ বছর ধরে ২১শে জুলাই পালন করছেন মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। সিপিআইএমের অত্যাচারের বিরুদ্ধে তিনি একা লড়াই করেছেন। আমাদের পরবর্তী লক্ষ্য ত্রিপুরা।

আমরা ২১১টি আসন পেয়েছি কারণ মানুষ তৃণমূলের উন্নয়নের ফল পেয়েছেন। বাংলা এখন ভারতের একটি মডেল হয়ে উঠেছে।

অভিষেক বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়

আজকের এই বিপুল জনসমাগম দুটি ব্রিগেডের সমাবেশের সমান। ২০১৪ সালের নভেম্বরে বিজেপি এখান থেকে বলেছিল ‘ভাগ মমতা ভাগ’। মানুষ তাদের যোগ্য জবাব দিয়েছে। বিষ্ণুপুর ও গাজলের এর বিধায়ক আজ যোগদান করেছে। কংগ্রেস নিজের ঘর সামলাতে পারে না তারা দিদির সাথে লড়াই করতে এসেছে।

পার্থ চট্টোপাধ্যায়

আমাদের মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছতে হবে। শান্তি-শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখতে হবে। যারা অন্যায় করবে তাদের তৃণমূলে কোন জায়গা নেই।

শুভেন্দু অধিকারী

উন্নয়নের জয় হয়েছে। ২০১৬র বিধানসভা নির্বাচনে কুৎসা ও অপপ্রচার পরাজিত হয়েছে।

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee said that she will be visiting the north-eastern state of Tripura on August 9, to consolidate the ground for Trinamool Congress in the State.

She said that she wanted to work for the development of the people of Tripura, which has been facing Left tyranny for decades.

In her speech today at the the Trinamool Chairperson said, “Many people from Tripura are here today. I will visit Tripura on 9 August. We want to work for development. In the next Assembly Election in Tripura, we will form the Government there.”

In the recent past, many leaders from the Tripura Assembly have joined Trinamool Congress. Some of them were present here at the Martyr’s Rally today at Dharmatala.

তৃণমূলের পরবর্তী লক্ষ্য ত্রিপুরা: ২১শে জুলাইয়ের জনসভায় বললেন মমতা

তৃণমূল সভানেত্রী মমতা ব্যানার্জী বলেন, আগামী ৯ই আগস্ট তিনি ত্রিপুরা সফরে যাচ্ছেন। তিনি বলেন তিনি ত্রিপুরার মানুষের উন্নয়নের জন্য তিনি কাজ করতে চান। ত্রিপুরার মানুষ কয়েক দশক ধরে বাম স্বৈরশাসন সহ্য করেছেন।

তৃণমূল সভানেত্রী আজ তার বক্তৃতায় বলেন, “আজ ত্রিপুরা থেকে অনেক মানুষ এখানে এসেছেন। আমি ৯ই আগস্ট ত্রিপুরা সফরে যাব। আমরা উন্নয়নের জন্য কাজ করতে চাই। ত্রিপুরায় আগামী বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের মধ্যে, তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস সরকার সেখানে গঠন করবে”।

কয়েকদিন আগেই  ত্রিপুরা বিধানসভা থেকে অনেক নেতা তৃণমূলের যোগদান করেছেন। তাদের মধ্যে কেউ কেউ বর্তমানে এখানে শহীদ সমাবেশে ধর্মতলায় আজ উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

The 21 July Martyrs’ Day rally is organised by All India Trinamool Congress in remembrance of 13 people shot dead by West Bengal Police in Kolkata during a protest movement led by Ms Mamata Banerjee on 21 July, 1993.

Ms Banerjee had organised Writers’ Chalo Abhiyan (March towards Writers’ Building) demanding that the voters’ identity card be made the only valid document to verify voters in order to put a stop to rampant ‘scientific rigging’.

Bloody history

The party workers gathered at five different points across the city on that fateful day. They began marching towards their destination along Brabourne Road and were stopped by a large contingent of police officials near the Tea Board office, barely few minutes away from the Writers’ Building. The police force started beating up the crowd mercilessly in order to drive them away from the vicinity of Writers’ Building.

The youth activists who were peacefully rallying refused to stop and walked ahead. Many rounds of teargas shells were fired but the supporters kept moving forward. Despite Ms Banerjee’s efforts to establish peace, the police went berserk in a spate of revenge and did not even spare her.

The place transformed into a battle zone. People started running across Curzon Park. The police opened fire, killing 13 supporters and leaving hundreds severely injured. Since then, an annual rally is held on this day every year, dedicated to the memory of these 13 martyrs.

Remembering martyrs

On the political significance of this day, the Trinamool Congress Chairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee writes in her book ‘My Unforgettable Memories’:

“It is the day when we remember and offer our respect to the hundreds of people who are fighting death every day, whose lives are a living death, who have lost life and limb in this struggle. For us, it is a day of sorrow and shame.”

“Ever since 1993, every year July 21 brings back excruciating pain and agony to our memory, of the barbaric act of violence and brutal firing meted out by the previous Left Front government,” recalls the Trinamool Chairperson.

“The voice of democratic demand raised in a peaceful procession was stifled with bullets and violence… Every year, 21st July is dedicated to ‘Shahid family’ (martyrs family) belonging to different democratic movements,” the Trinamool Congress Chairperson said.

“Let us bow our heads down, pay obeisance and remember their invaluable sacrifice and also take a pledge to rededicate ourselves to continue to fight for the cause of ‘Maa Mati Manush’ and build a harmonious, peaceful and prosperous Bengal,” she said.

Trinamool Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed lakhs and lakhs of party workers, supporters and common people at Sahid Dibas rally in Dharmatala, Kolkata.

During her speech she lashed out at a section of people trying to foment communal tension in the state and warned them of dire consequences.

She also said that Trinamool’s next target is to work for the development of the people of Tripura. She asked the Trinamool activists to rise above selfish motives and work for the party.

Excerpts of her speech today at Dharmatala:

On Sahid Dibas

 l welcome the families of martyrs who are present here. Martyr families from Netai, Nandigram, Singur, Sainbari, Nanoor and even Marichjhanpi are present here. While coming to the venue I saw lakhs and lakhs of people still coming here. We thank the Maa, Mati, Manush of Bengal for electing us to office for the second time. 21 July is not just a word or date. It has a deeper meaning. It signifies movement. It signifies emotions. 21 July has a connection with our hearts. 13 innocent lives were lost on 21 July, 1993. Many people were killed during the CPI(M) rule. Next year will mark the 25th year of the 21 July Sahid Dibas. We will take up programmes throughout the year.

On Maa Mati Manush

 We believe humanity is the biggest religion. We have to love people, serve them. To earn the trust of the people is the biggest challenge of a political party. Trinamool is a party of the people. Trinamool stands for poriborton, development, unity, progress, working for people. Workers are the biggest assets of Trinamool Congress.

 On Trinamool’s victory

 Despite all the conspiracies and smear campaigns, Trinamool won 211 seats. There were unprecedented canards against us. Our party, our government is always pro-people. We will not allow anti-people actions. The more you try to scare us, the stronger our resolve becomes. We have not learnt to bow our heads. We cannot be defeated with fear tactics.

On party dicipline

 A few bad people bring bad repute to the entire party. We have to rise above selfish motives and work for the party. We have distributed direct government services to 85-90 per cent people in every district. The party must help the administration in maintaining law and order in the State. I am your guardian, your protector. I am here to ensure your well-being. We will use the talent of our youth to convert Bengal into Biswa Bangla.

On communal politics

 When the Centre cannot fight us politically they use agencies like ED and CBI. The infrastructure created in the last five years will be an asset for the posterity. Although we have increased our revenue, a large amount money is being spent on paying off debt incurred by CPI(M). A lot of States are in debt trap because of the wrong economic policies of the Centre. The Centre is destroying the federal structure and interfering in the work of the States. The Centre does not give funds but claims credit for schemes and projects through advertisements. Centre is bringing down its share in most schemes. They do not even consult States whether we can pay our share. The top four districts in India under Swachh Bharat Mission are from Bengal. Centre wants to make Aadhar compulsory. They must first ensure everyone gets an Aadhar card. The Centre talks of direct benefit transfer. But first set up banks in every village. Black money has not come back to the country. White money is going away from the country

On harmony

We condemn terror attacks of all forms. Dalits were tortured in Gujarat recently. Some organisations are trying to incite communal violence in the name of cow protection. I eat veg, someone eats chicken while some other person eats cow meat. What is wrong in that? It is personal choice. Who are you to decide who will eat what? We will not allow communal tension in the name of cow protection. We stood in solidarity with Bangladesh after terror attacks in Dhaka. You cannot take people for granted. Today you are in power. Tomorrow you may be thrown out of office.

On Tripura

 Many people from Tripura are here today. I will visit Tripura on 9 August. We want to work for development. Mamata Banerjee does not seek power. I want federal structure to be strengthened.

On Bengal

 Festive season is coming. We have maintained communal harmony in the State. Youth and students are our assets. You will build a better Bengal tomorrow. We have started free healthcare at govt hospitals. We are giving rice at Rs 2/kg. We started Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi. We are giving monthly stipends to folk artistes. We have to uphold our culure and heritage Frontal organisations, panchayats, Zilla Parishads, municipalities must keep working for the people. Our target is to convert Bengal into Biswa Bangla.

২১ শের জনপ্লাবনে মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের বার্তা

বিধানসভা নির্বাচনে ২১১ আসন নিয়ে দ্বিতীয় ইনিংস শুরু করার পর আজ ২১ জুলাই পালন করল তৃণমূল কংগ্রেস দল। দ্বিতীয়বার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী হওয়ার পর এটাই মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের প্রথম প্রকাশ্য রাজনৈতিক সভা৷ একুশে জুলাই নিহত ও আহতদের পরিজনদের পাশাপাশি ছিলেন নন্দীগ্রাম, সিঙ্গুর, নেতাই ও রাজ্যের বহু জায়গায় শোষিত অত্যাচারিত মানুষের পরিবার৷

মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু বিষয়ঃ

• এখানে উপস্থিত সকল শহিদ পরিবারের সদস্যদের ও বিশিষ্ট জনদের আমার অভিনন্দন, ধন্যবাদ, কৃতজ্ঞতা জানাচ্ছি
• নন্দিগ্রাম, সাঁইবাড়ি, সিঙ্গুর, নানুর ও মরিচঝাঁপির সকল শহিদের পরিবারের সদস্য এখানে উপস্থিত আছেন
• আসার সময় আমি দেখলাম লাখ লাখ মানুষ আসছেন এখনও
• দ্বিতীয়বার আমায় সমর্থন করার জন্য মা-মাটি-মানুষকে আমার ধন্যবাদ
• ২১শে জুলাই কোন একটি শব্দ বা তারিখ নয়, এর এক গভীর মানে। এটি একটি আন্দোলন, এটি একটি আবেগ
• ২১শে জুলাইয়ের সঙ্গে আমাদের আবেগের সম্পর্ক
• ১৯৯৩ সালের ২১শে জুলাই ১৩ জন প্রাণ হারিয়েছিলেন। সিপিএমের আমলে অনেক মৃত্যু হয়েছে
• আমরা বিশ্বাস করি মানবিকতাই সবচেয়ে বড় ধর্ম. আমরা মানুষকে ভালোবাসি তাই তাদের জন্য কাজ করি
• আগামী বছর ২১শে জুলাইয়ের ২৫ বছর পূর্ণ হবে। সারা বছর ধরে আমরা এই উপলক্ষে বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠান করব
• জনগণের আস্থা অর্জন করা রাজনৈতিক দলের সবচেয়ে বড় চ্যালেঞ্জ। তৃণমূল মানুষের দল
• তৃণমূল মানে পরিবর্তন, উন্নয়ন, একতা ও প্রগতি
• কর্মীরাই তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের সবচেয়ে বড় সম্পদ
• অনেক ষড়যন্ত্র ও অপপ্রচার সত্ত্বেও তৃণমূল ২১১ টি আসন পেয়েছে
• আমাদের দল, আমাদের সরকার জনগণের সরকার। আমরা গণবিরোধী কাজ বরদাস্ত করব না
• আমরা আমাদের মাথা নত করতে শিখিনি। ভয় দেখিয়ে আমাদের দমন করা যাবে না
• যত আমাদের ভয় দেখানোর চেষ্টা করবেন আমরা ততই শক্তিশালী হব
• কিছু লোক সমগ্র দলের ভাবমূর্তি নষ্ট করছে
• নিজেদের স্বার্থ ভুলে গিয়ে আমাদের দলের জন্য কাজ করতে হবে

• কেন্দ্র আমাদের ফান্ডের টাকা দেয় না
• রাজ্যের সঙ্গে আলোচনা না করেই কেন্দ্র সমস্ত প্রকল্পের টাকা দেওয়া বন্ধ করে দিচ্ছে
• স্বচ্ছ ভারত মিশনের তালিকায় শীর্ষে রয়েছে বাংলার ৪টি জেলা
• কেন্দ্র আধার বাধ্যতামূলক করতে চায়। তার আগে সবাই আধার কার্ড পেয়েছে কিনা তা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে
• কালো টাকা দেশে ফিরছে না, বরং সাদা টাকা দেশ থেকে চলে যাচ্ছে
• সব সন্ত্রাসবাদী হামলাই নিন্দনীয়
• সম্প্রতি গুজরাটে দলিতদের ওপর নির্যাতন হয়েছে। কিছু প্রতিষ্ঠান গরু সুরক্ষার নামে সাম্প্রদায়িক হিংসার উদ্রেক করার চেষ্টা করছেন
• আমি নিরামিষ খাই, কেউ আমিষ খান, এটা যার যার ব্যক্তিগত পছন্দ
• কে কি খাবেন তা আপনি ঠিক করার কে? সুরক্ষার নামে সাম্প্রদায়িক উত্তেজনা বরদাস্ত করব না
• বাংলাদেশের ঢাকায় সন্ত্রাসবাদী হামলার পর আমরা তাদের পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে ছিলাম
• আপনারা মানুষকে অবহেলা করতে পারেন না, আজ আপনি ক্ষমতায় আছে, কিন্তু কাল নাও থাকতে পারেন
• আজ ত্রিপুরা থেকে অনেকে এখানে এসেছেন।. আমি ৯ই আগস্ট ত্রিপুরা যাব
• মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায় ক্ষমতা চান না। আমি চাই যুক্তরাষ্ট্রীয় কাঠামো শক্তিশালী করতে
• উ९সবের মরশুম আসছে। রাজ্যের সাম্প্রদায়িক সম্প্রীতি ও শৃঙ্খলা বজায় রাখতে হবে
• আমরা সরকারি হাসপাতালে বিনামূল্যে চিকিতসার ব্যবস্থা করেছি, মানুষকে ২টাকা কেজি চাল দিচ্ছি
• কন্যাশ্রী, সবুজ সাথী চালু করেছি আমরা। লোকশিল্পীদের মাসিক ভাতা দিচ্ছি
• পঞ্চায়েত, জেলা পরিষদ, পৌরসভা সকলকে মানুষের জন্য কাজ করতে হবে
• বাংলাকে বিশ্ববাংলায় পরিণত করাই আমাদের লক্ষ
