WB CM slams Centre for pitiable condition of National Highways

West Bengal Chief Minister and TrinamoolChairperson Ms Mamata Banerjee has instructed party leaders to take up theissue of the deteriorating condition of National Highway 34.People from theadjoining areas in Krishnanagar had complained to the Chief Minister of theirdaily plight because of the bad road.

The Trinamool Chairperson sent a strongmessage to the Centre on the deteriorating condition of the National Highwaysin the State. She said that if the work on the repair of Highways is not takenup immediately by the Centre, then measures will be taken. Why did the Centralauthority not begin the repair work before the monsoon, at least some repairworks could have done with stones, sand and bitumen, she asked. Rs 45 crore hadbeen already allotted by the Centre for the repair of NH-34 but work has notcommenced yet.

All India General Secretary of the party instructed Nadia district leadership to launch a series of protestcampaigns against the Central Government’s dillydallying over the repair of theNational Highway in the State.
