Wave of development in Dakshin Dinajpur

The district of Uttar Dinajpur has seen large-scale development over the last seven and a half years. The Trinamool Congress has done a lot projects for the district, and is continuing with its developmental projects.

Health: 2 multi-super speciality hospitals, 2 fair-price medicine shops, 5 fair-price diagnostic centres, free beds, 6 SNSUs, 2 SNCUs, 2 CCUs, 2 HDUs, 2 sub-health centres, 1 Waiting Hut at Chechra Primary Health Centre, Tapan block, Skills Lab at Balurghat District Hospital

Schools: 223 schools established, 34 schools’ levels upgraded, 1 model school in Tapan (2 more being set up)

Scholarships: More than 1.38 lakh students under Kanyashree, more than 2.11 lakh students under Sikshashree

Higher education: 1 university coming up in Balurghat, 3 government degree college, 6 ITIs, 2 polytechnic colleges established

Kisan Mandi: 8 Kisan Mandis set up

100 Days’ Work: More than 2.06 crore man-days created from FY 2013-14 to 2018-19

Housing: About 1.49 lakh people benefitted from housing schemes, including rural housing

Mission Nirmal Bangla: Dakshin Dinajpur district declared a ‘Nirmal Zilla’, having achieved status of 100% ODF

Industry: 6 MSME clusters (including 1 mukhosh cluster in Kushmandi, 2 potters’ clusters in Buniyadpur and Gangarampur, 3 handloom clusters), 3 Rural Entrepreneurship Hubs, 1 handloom hub (for 11,000 handloom workers), and MSME Facilitation Centre and Export Facilitation Centre at the district industry centre set up; 190 artistes getting pension of Rs 1,000; 1 Industrial Growth Centre being set up; bank loans worth Rs 3,726 crore given to MSMEs

Roads & bridges: More than 900 km of roads built/repaired/widened; 3 bridges built; Balurghat airport being built

Tourism: 16.36 lakh saplings planted over 1,039 hectares under afforestation projects; 1 tourist lodge, 3 tourist centres, bird and environment protection centre being set up at the village of Angina,

Samajik Suraksha Yojana: More than 1.94 lakh unorganised labourers enlisted

Karmatirtha: 11 Karmatirthas functioning

Sports: 20 multi-gyms, 10 mini indoor stadiums; Balurghat and Gangarampur Stadiums being renovated
