Flood of visitors at Didi’s Kalighat residence to greet her for poll victory
Visitors flooded the Trinamool Congress Chairperson and Chief Minister-elect Mamata Banerjee’s house on Harish Chatterjee Street on Sunday to wish her on her stupendous victory in the Assembly election.
It was spectacle for the residents as well, what with all these famous faces arriving one by one.
Among the visitors were Trinamool Congress leaders and celebrities, including party MP Sandhya Roy, classical singer Arun Bhaduri, Sister Prema, the head of the Missionaries of Charity, film-maker Gautam Ghosh, actors Prasenjit Chatterjee and Juhi Chawla, and singer Jojo.
Like the last few days, this was again a day of celebrations on Harish Chatterjee Street. Mamata Banerjee met members of the public who had come to congratulate their favourite Didi. She even met a little girl and a boy who had come to seek help from her and greet her on her success. Misti Bari, the little girl, was mute. She had come from Mahishadal with her family and they asked the Chief Minister to help them out. Another student had come for a scholarship. She directed her officials to look into the matters and do whatever they could to help them.
Amid all this, the Chief Minister-elect was also busy inviting important persons from different parts of the country to attend her swearing-in ceremony on May 27, which is scheduled to take place on Red Road.

রবিবারও উৎসবের মেজাজ রইল কালীঘাটের হরিশ চ্যাটার্জি স্ট্রীটের বাড়িতে। বিপুল জনতার ঢল, সমর্থকদের উচ্ছ্বাস। বিধানসভা নির্বাচনের ফলাফলের শুভেচ্ছা জানাতে ও নেত্রীর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে এদিনও বহু সমর্থক আসেন।
বিভিন্ন নেতা মন্ত্রী সহ, চলচ্চিত্র জগতের তারকারাও এদিন উপস্থিত এসেছিলেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে শুভেচ্ছা জানাতে। সাংসদ সন্ধ্যা রায়, সঙ্গীতশিল্পী অরুণ ভাদুরি, মিশনারিজ অফ চ্যারিটির সিস্টার প্রেমা, পরিচালক গৌতম ঘোষ, অভিনেতা প্রসেনজিত, জুহি চাওলা ও সঙ্গীতশিল্পী জো জো উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
এদিন সিস্টার প্রেমা এসে নেত্রীকে রোমে মাদার টেরিজার সন্ত অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত থাকার জন্যও আমন্ত্রণ জানান।
বিকেল থেকে সমাজের বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রের প্রতিনিধিরা মমতাকে শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে যান। মাঝেমধ্যে নিজের অফিস থেকে বেরিয়ে বাইরে দর্শনার্থীদের সঙ্গে দেখা করেছেন মমতা, তাঁদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেছেন। কেউ তাঁকে স্পর্শ করেছেন, আবার যাঁরা সুযোগ পেয়েছেন তাঁরা তাঁর পায়ের ধুলো নিয়েছেন। প্রত্যেকের সঙ্গেই তিনি কথা বলেছেন।
গতকয়েক দিন ধরেই হরিশ চ্যাটার্জি স্ট্রীটে রয়েছে উৎসবের মেজাজ। গতকাল দিদি একটি ছোট মেয়ের সঙ্গেও দেখা করেন যে কথা বলতে পারে না। সে ও তার পরিবার মহিষাদল থেকে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কাছে এসেছিলেন সাহায্যের আবেদন নিয়ে। আরও একজন ছাত্র এসেছিল স্কলারশিপের আবেদন নিয়ে। দিদি তাদের যথাসাধ্য সাহায্য করার আশ্বাস দেন।
মিডিয়ার তরফ থেকে ফুল দিয়ে তাঁকে শুভেচ্ছা জানানো হয়েছে। ২৬ মে পর্যন্ত তিনি কালীঘাটের অফিসেই বসবেন। ২৭ মে রেড রোডে শপথ গ্রহণ করে নবান্নে যাবেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী।
