Two new schemes for storing paddy
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced two new schemes for storing paddy – Poli Gola and Poli Chatal. She made the announcement at the public meeting held at Aghornath Park Stadium in Kalna on November 30.
To start with, she announced, 26,000 economically-backward farmers in the five agriculture-intensive districts of Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, Uttar Dinajpur, Purba Medinipur and Jalpaiguri would be brought under the two schemes as part of a pilot project.
The paddy preservation scheme, ‘Amar Gola, Amar Fasal’’ is already getting implemented across the State. With these two new schemes, much more benefit would reach the farmers.
