Trinamool holds protest in Parliament premises on data privacy

Trinamool Congress MPs today staged a protest at the Parliament premises to protest against the law on Aadhaar being brought about by the Centre that would compromise on data privacy.
The MPs stood carrying placards with slogans like ‘Bring Data Protection Law’, ‘Don’t Sell Our Personal Data’, ‘Stop Selling Students Data’, ‘Tathyo Sanrakshon/Goponiyota Aiyn Ante Hobe’ (Data protection/privacy law must be implemented), etc. and shouted slogans as well on the same lines.
It may be mentioned that the party had strongly opposed several clauses of The Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment Bill), 2019 when it was being discussed, in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
What the Bill does is strike at the very heart of the privacy of an individual and privacy of an individual’s data, something which the Supreme Court’s majority judgment also tried to talk about.
