Tourism Dept’s new project – ‘Bengal Tourism on Wheels’

To disseminate detailed information about various tourist spots across Bengal, the State Tourism Department is all set to roll out a project titled ‘Bengal Tourism on Wheels’. The aim is to arouse the interest of the people in exploring various tourist destinations of Bengal.
Vehicles decked up with pictures of tourist destinations will reach every doorstep to provide information about both the explored and unexplored tourist spots.
According to a Tourism Department official, they have developed a number of unconventional tourist spots across the State with world class amenities for the tourists. The Bengal Tourism on Wheels project will play a major role in promoting especially the unconventional spots. The Government is also coming up with tourism information kiosks across the State.
There are plans to roll out 20 such vehicles before the Pujas, according to the official, adding that four vehicles will be operational in Kolkata.
The vehicles will have officials who will be ready to satiate the wanderlust of people. They will be ready to provide detailed information about food and lodging facilities available, the places of interest at the particular destination and also the best time for visiting the destination.
Most importantly, there will be spot-booking facilities for hotels, tours, etc. Booking slips will also be handed over right at the spot.
The vehicles will be fitted with LED screens on which video presentations made by the department, highlighting the various tourist spots, will be aired.
