TMC and Opposition walk out in RS on black money. Here is why
Trinamool, along with other Opposition parties, today walked out of the Rajya Sabha expressing dissatisfaction with the government's reply on the black money issue.
“We heard the Finance Minister who is a good orator – he can even sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo. However, his reply is a summary of what appeared in the media on Black Money in the last four months. Nothing new.
Our main contention remains that the BJP made big promises of bringing back Black Money within 100 days before elections. This was a hoax. 180 days, nothing substantial has happened. They have no intention of bringing back black money.
This is a debate much beyond black money and the reason my party the Trinamool Congress has been in the forefront of the movement is because we believe black money leads to money power; money power leads to muscle power. Muscle power and money power together is a toxic combination in a Parliamentary democracy.”
