The BJP is trying to impose NRC, but we’ll give them NBC – National Biday (goodbye) Certificate: Mamata Banerjee at Samsi
Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee today addressed a public meeting at Samsi in Malda district. She asked the people to vote out the BJP and help bring in a much better government.
Highlights of her speech:
Thank you all for coming here to attend my meeting.
I was once in the Congress and fought all my life. Similarly people like Mausam Noor and others too have fought, and therefore have joined my party now.
They know that Trinamool is the only party capable of defeating the BJP – neither the Congress nor the CPI(M) can do it.
Narendra Modi’s government has done nothing for Bangla. It has brought only hardships for the people. The Narendra Modi Government is a government of unemployment.
Modi has worked towards dividing the country – so the people should respond through exercising their democratic right to vote. Each vote will be a slap on the face of Modi.
The BJP is talking about imposing NRC, but it would result in ousting people from the country. Many people here would also be affected.

We are all citizens of this country, neither Modi Babu nor any other party have the right to make us foreigners.
If you have the guts to fight, fight us properly, else leave the battlefield.
Earlier Modi Babu called himself a chaiwallah, now he calls himself a chowkidar – but he is neither, just a fake person.
Chowkidar kya hain? Chowkidar chor hain! Can such a chowkidar ever run the country?
He had promised Rs 15 lakh for every individual from the black money that he said he would bring back to the country, he had promised 10 crore jobs – but you got neither. Everything is lies and deceit.
They know they won’t get too many seats in other States, so now they have come to Bengal to divide the people. Modi is only interested in creating rift between HIndus and Muslims.
I don’t believe in the BJP’s Hinduism, but in Sri Ramakrishna’s and Swami Viivekananda’s Hinduism, in Ma Kali, Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati.
I respect other religions equally – I pray with Muslims, go to churches and gurdwaras. You will never hear me talking about divisiveness.
I will never let the BJP break up Bangla, divide Hindus and Muslims.
We have done a lot of developmental work in Malda – modernised hospitals, built bridges, industrial parks, kisan mandis, English-medium madrasahs, etc.
We didn’t get any seat here in the Assembly elections. Despite that, we have done everything possible for you; and we’ll continue our work here, I promise
Today I request you: Vote for us. I guarantee you we will keep doing developmental work here.
I have come to Malda numerous times to be beside the people in their times of need
We have facilitated mango export to Europe, mushroom farming and other allied agri-business here.
If you want to defeat the BJP, vote for us – voting for the Congress and the CPI(M) would be a waste of your votes.
I have a lot of respect for Barkat da, Mausam is from his family – but the Congress is no longer doing good work here.
The MP here has not done anything; he is always sitting in Delhi and looking after his own interests.
If you want to live a good life, change the BJP government at the Centre.
In the run-up to the elections, the BJP has been seen distributing money in some places at night. The rest of the time though they don’t even bother to see whether people have food to eat.
Take pictures of such illegal activities and send them to the police. I’ll catch all of them.
All of you – Hindus, Muslims, Adivasis, women and children – be healthy, be safe, be happy.
Hinduism is a religion that believes in taking everyone along, not segregating
In the coming days, we’ll throw the BJP out of power because we want peace.
I request the Central Forces to be neutral and work with the State police, and to see to it that people get to vote peacefully; I request them not to be swayed by instructions from the BJP.
I respect jawans too, and wish the best for them and their families.
