Tantuja to tap into Durga Puja sales using designs handpicked by WB CM

Tantuja, the West Bengal GovernmentUndertaking which sells cotton products and Bengali tant sarees under the BiswaBangla Brand, will now use designs handpicked by West Bengal Chief MinisterMs Mamata Banerjee. The new collection of these sarees will be available beforethe Pujas.
The officials of Tantuja's Design FacilitatedCentre will meet the Chief Minister with a handful of designs from where shemay choose a few or suggest changes and re-touch a few. Tantuja which wasalmost on the verge of being shut down by the erstwhile Left Front Govt due toheavy losses to the tune of Rs 14.6 crore, was revived by the West Bengal ChiefMinister. Last year it made a profit of Rs 19.17 lakh.
The organization has now bagged two dealsfrom Kerala and Japan. The Kerala Government's 'Hanvig' has given an order worth Rs 3.5 crore to Tantuja. The WBGovt Undertaking is also on the verge of making a breakthrough in exporting itsproducts to several countries in the Middle-East.
