Statement by Trinamool Congress issued at 3:20 PM
Statement issued by Derek O’Brien, Chief National Spokesperson:
We have watched the video of the so-called ‘sting’ operation. There is no sting in it. We are completely dismissive about it.
All I can say to our shameless political opponents is, come, fight us politically. Do not take recourse to your dirty tricks department. The timing of the dirty tricks video too clearly indicates the devious motive behind it. Why was the organisation who supposedly shot this video hiding the so-called ‘truth’ for more than two years and releasing it today?
We are focused on the upcoming elections and do not wish to be distracted by this smear campaign. We live in an age where technology is often abused.
This is a deliberate attempt to malign the All India Trinamool Congress. But the people of Bengal know better. They trust the credibility and credentials of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. After the people have spoken on 19 May, you will see for yourselves what the people of Bengal think of this so-called ‘sting’ operation.

তথাকথিত স্টিং অপারেশনের ভিডিওটি আমরা দেখেছি। এর মধ্যে কোনও স্টিং বা বিষ-ই নেই। স্পষ্ট করে বলতে চাই, এই স্টিং অপারেশনকে আমরা গুরুত্বই দিচ্ছি না।
নির্লজ্জ রাজনৈতিক বিরোধিদের এটাই বলতে চাই যে আমাদের মুখোমুখি দাঁড়িয়ে রাজনৈতিকভাবে মোকাবিলা করুন। নোংরা খেলার আশ্রয় নেবেন না। আমরা এমন সময়ে বসবাস করি যেখানে প্রায়শই প্রযুক্তির অপব্যবহার করা হয়। যে সংস্থাটি এই ভিডিওটি শুট করেছে, তারা দুবছর ধরে সত্য ধামা চাপা দিয়ে রেখেছিল কেন? আজই বা তারা কেন হঠাত এই ভিডিওটি প্রকাশ করলেন?
সর্বভারতীয় তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের বিরুদ্ধে কু९সা রটানোর এটা একটা প্রয়াস। কিন্তু বাংলার মানুষ সব বোঝেন, জানেন। তাঁরা মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের স্বচ্ছ ভাবমূর্তিতে আস্থা রাখেন। ১৯ মে মানুষ যখন রায় দেবে তখন আপনারা নিজেরাই দেখে নেবেন এই স্টিং অপারেশন নিয়ে মানুষ কী ভাবছে।
