State Govt to set up animation academy in Salt Lake
The Bangla Government will set up an animation academy at Sector V in Salt Lake, on a 1.5-acre plot at DP Block, announced the Finance and Information and Technology Minister, Dr Amit Mitra recently at a knowledge workshop on animation, VFX and gaming organised by Webel, a nodal agency of the State Information Technology and Electronics (IT&E) Department.
The Centre of Excellence on Innovation, as the academy will be called, is being set up jointly by the IT&E Department and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology. It will offer a three-year BSc degree course.
The minister said the State Government wanted to create a talent pool in these fields as they are growing exponentially every year.
