State Govt to overhaul ITIs across Bangla

In order to further improve the quality of the training offered by the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) run by the State Government, it has been decided to set up a review process regarding the tying up of various ITIs with private companies.
The Technical Education Department looks after the running of ITIs across the State. There are 76 ITIs that are run under public-private mode.
As per the terms and conditions, the State Government allocates the building, designs the course curriculum, earmarks the fees and arranges admission for 80 per cent of the students in these institutes. The equipment, faculties and other infrastructure are provided by the private body that is selected through tendering.
There are a total of 248 ITIs. Upgrading of the hostels is also being planned by the department.
