State Govt launches training programme for 1,200 bus drivers

The Bengal Government has taken up an initiative to train 1,200 bus drivers of South Bengal State Transport Corporation (SBSTC) under the project, Safe Drive Save Life.
They will be trained in phases and the programme will continue for one-and-a-half-months. The training programme, to be run by the State Transport Department, will do away with errors that occur occasionally to ensure a safe and secure journey of passengers.
It may be recalled that the Transport Department and the police together had earlier taken up an initiative to ensure that drivers do not use mobile phones while driving, as that can draw away the attention from driving and cause accidents. The police also pasted stickers on the corners of windscreens and posters containing messages, on the quantum of punishment if caught speaking on mobile phones while driving.
