State food minister writes to Centre against discrimination
The State Food Minister Jyotipriya Mullick today wrote to the Union Food Minister complaining about the Centre’s discrimination against West Bengal in compare to Odisha regarding the acquisition cost for custom milled rice and handling and transportation charges.

In Bengal, the Centre is giving acquisition cost Rs 2337.64 per quintal for common grade rice while for the same grade of rice, the Centre is giving Rs 2462.73 per quintal in Odisha.

There are also differences between the two states in transportation and handling charges. The minister said the rice mill owners from the state are very much dissatisfied with the decision and will go to Delhi to meet the Union minister.
