Snehodiya – Housing complex for senior citizens
The State Government is constructing a housing complex for senior citizens called Snehodiya in Newtown, on the outskirts of Kolkata.
The 11-storey apartment will have all the amenities for a luxurious life in the later stages of one’s life. There will also be a guest house beside the home. HIDCO will be in charge of the place.
Technology will be a primary component of the setup. Each room will be provided with remote calling bells with the help of which residents will be able to call designated personnel in case of any emergency.
There will be 90 single-bed rooms and 57 twin-bed rooms. A lottery might be held among the applicants for allotting rooms.
The rooms will come equipped with pillows, mattresses, hot water facilities, televisions, Wi-Fi and the remote calling bells, mentioned above. Every floor will have rooms for recreation, which will have televisions and facilities for games like carrom, cards, chess, etc. as well as hanging gardens.
Healthcare facilities will be available like medicines and regular measurement of weight, blood pressure and blood sugar of the residents. There will be facilities like physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and yoga.
