The closing session was presided over by Bangla Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the presence of Finance, Industries & Commerce Minister Dr Amit Mitra, Transport Minister Subhendu Adhikari, representatives of various industries and foreign nations.
Highlights of the Chief Minister’s speech:
I hope you enjoyed the hospitality and cultural experience here
We have decided to organise cultural programmes here in Digha every weekend. A dias and performing area will be set up. It will be called Dheu Sagar
I congratulate the 20 countries who took part in this conclave, and are continuously helping us
I congratulate the representatives, diplomats, captains of the industries – big and small – and artisans, media and the local administration for their full support
In the last 8 years, the bank lending to the MSME sector was Rs 2.16 lakh crore, only in Bangla. About 40 lakh MSME units have been funded. The employment generation is close to 3 crore.
The handloom and khadi sector has grown by almost 17 times.
There will be new employment of nearly 5 lakh in the leather sector.
To boost the village industries and weavers, relief materials like bed sheets, sarees will be procured from these industries through Tantuja. This will create 25 lakh mandays in the next three years, and benefit 20,000 weavers.
The production of Khadi goods increased 30 times since we came to power. We have already set up 528 Karma Tirthas (readymade, organised marketing hubs for the unemployed youth).
You can generate a lot of employment in the small scale industry sector. Nowadays, the world is facing acute unemployment, specially in our country because of the economic disaster.
In Bangla, we gave focus to the small scale sector, because of which the employment generation is 3 crore and unemployment decreased by 40 per cent in the last eight years. We have a comprehensive plan of action.
Bangla was awarded the Deocha Pachami coal block, with 2 million tonnes deposits. The coal belt is the second largest in the world. We are eager to start the project immediately. We have got the clearance to start work on the first phase.
Tajpur port will change the economy of this area. The tourism sector will also get a boost.
We do not have power crisis in Bangla anymore. Load-shedding were the order of the day
We firmly believe that both farmers and industries must prosper. There must not be any animosity between them. We have land bank for land acquisition
Do business with peaceful, positive mind. Business is not for mental pollution. There are so many taxes. Added to them is the fear of the agencies. How will you do business?
Management-employees-workers are one family. If everyone in the family is happy, business will also run properly
Nobody says they have any problem running their business in Bangla. There may be small hiccups, which we can always sort. We want businesses to prosper in Bangla
We must love our State. We must love our country. We may belong to different backgrounds, but we are all humans. Humanity is the mainstay of progress
