Scholarship scheme for meritorious but poor students

The Bangla Government has started a scholarship scheme for meritorious but economically backward students (both boys and girls) belonging to minority communities (including Buddhists, Christians, Jains, Muslims, Sikhs and Parsis).
The scheme is called Aikyashree, to administer which a web portal has been set up.
The last date for applying for the scholarship, which has to be done through the portal, is July 15, 2019.
The scholarship would be of three types:
Pre-Matric Scholarship
- For students from classes I to X
- Student’s annual family income has to be within Rs 2 lakh
- Amount would be from Rs 1,100 to Rs 11,000 annually
Post-Matric Scholarship
- For students pursuing Higher Secondary, ITI, diploma, graduation, post-graduation, MPhil, BEd, etc. from Bangla Government-recognised institutes
- Student’s annual family income has to be within Rs 2 lakh
- Scholarship amount would be to pay tuition fee, and would amount from Rs 10,200 to Rs 15,200 per year
Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
- For students pursuing technical and professional courses from Bangla Government-recognised institutes and universities, as well as for those studying in IIT, IIM, NIFT, IIFT and other premier national-level institutions (all those institutes listed on www.wbmdfc.org)
- Student’s annual family income has to be within Rs 2.5 lakh
- Scholarship amount would be to pay tuition fee, and would amount from Rs 22,000 to Rs 33,000 per year
Few important conditions for students to fulfil
- Have to be residents of the State
- Except for those in class I, have to have scored at least 50% on aggregate in the previous final examination
- One student can only apply for one scholarship
- Students pursuing education through correspondence courses are not eligible to apply
- One mobile number can be used in one form only. For the Pre-Matric Scholarships, though, one mobile number can be used in a maximum of two forms.
- Printout of filled-up form to be submitted to the institution the student is studying in, along with photocopy of bank passbook, having account number and IFSC number in it, as well as self-declared letter regarding annual family income
