Put an end to the politics of bandh: Mamata Banerjee in Darjeeling
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee attended the prize distribution ceremony of the Himal-Tarai-Dooars Sports Festival today in Darjeeling. The festival was organised by the Youth Affairs and Sports Department.
A total of 805 clubs and 18,500 athletes (both men and women) participated in martial arts, archery, football and volleyball tournaments.
Sportspersons from the districts of Darjeeling, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong along with those from the areas under the jurisdiction of Siliguri Police Coimmissionerate participated in the festival.
Highlights of her speech:
- My heartiest congratulations to all the participants. Successful participants will be inducted as civic volunteers.
- Bengal Government does not interfere in the workings of the GTA. We respect people of all castes, creed, communities and religion.
- GTA was created for the development of the region. Local leaders are running the GTA and Bengal Government is providing all the cooperation.
- We have to maintain peace in the region. If tourists do not come to the Hills, how will the economy of the region prosper?
- Put an end to the politics of bandh. You can always make your demands.
- During the Left Front rule, the Chief Ministers hardly visited the Hills. But I visit Darjeeling every 2-3 months.
- I do not come to only seek votes. I work for the people.
- You must maintain peace in the region for a better future, for the youth, for students, for everyone.
- Darjeeling is a popular tourist destination all over the world.
- Unrest in Darjeeling benefits Sikkim. Sections with vested interests do not want people of Darjeeling to be happy.
- Whenever we work for the development of the Hills, someone creates violence and the process is pushed back by 10 years.
- No one can buy-out Darjeeling with money power. You have to win hearts.
- I believe Darjeeling has a potential to become an industry hub, an IT hub. There is potential in horticulture also.
- We want development of the Hills. We want welfare of the people. We do not want votes. We want peace. We want jobs for the youth.
- We will set up a university in the Hills. We have already sanctioned ITI, polytechnic and other drinking water projects for the Hills.
- We do not want divide-and-rule politics.
- Thank you to all the people for restoring peace in the Hills. Tourists are coming back. This is a good sign.
- Let Kanchenjunga keep smiling.
বনধের খেলা বন্ধ হওয়া উচিত, দার্জিলিঙে বললেন মুখ্যমন্ত্রী
দীর্ঘ ৭ মাস পর পাহাড়ে বাংলার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়। গতকাল তিনি রোহিণীতে সুভাষ ঘিসিং মার্গের নামকরণ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। আজ তিনি উপস্থিত ছিলেন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকারের যুবকল্যাণ ও ক্রীড়া দপ্তরের সহযোগিতায় শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেট তথা দার্জিলিং জেলা পুলিশ আয়োজিত হিমল তরাই ডুয়ার্স ক্রীড়া উৎসব ২০১৮-র পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানে।
এই উৎসবে শিলিগুড়ি পুলিশ কমিশনারেট আওতাধীন এলাকা সহ দার্জিলিং, জলপাইগুড়ি, আলিপুরদুয়ার এবং কালিম্পং জেলার মোট ৮০৫টি ক্লাব ও ১৮৫০০ জন যুবক-যুবতী মার্শাল আর্ট, তিরন্দাজি, ফুটবল ও ভলিবল প্রতিযোগিতায় অংশগ্রহণ করেন।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর বক্তব্যের কিছু অংশ:
- উপস্থিত সকলকে আমার ধন্যবাদ। সফল খেলোয়াড়দের প্রতি বছর আমরা পুরস্কার বিতরণ করি। যারা সফল হয়েছেন তাদের সিভিক ভলেন্টিয়ারের পদে নেওয়া হবে।
- বাংলার সরকার কখনও দার্জিলিঙের ব্যাপারে হস্তক্ষেপ করে না। আমরা সব ধর্ম, জাতি, শ্রেণী ও বর্ণের মানুষকে শ্রদ্ধা করি।
- আপনার দার্জিলিং আপনাকেই সামলাতে হবে, সেইজন্যই সকলে মিলে জিটিএ তৈরি হয়েছে। বাংলার সরকার তাদের সব রকম সহযোগিতা করে।
- আমাদের শান্তি রক্ষা করতে হবে। আপনারা ভালো থাকুন, শান্তিতে থাকুন। দার্জিলিঙে পর্যটকরা না এলে আপনাদের অর্থনীতি চলবে কি করে?
- বনধের খেলা বন্ধ হওয়া উচিত। আপনাদের যা দাবি আপনারা নিশ্চয়ই তা চাইতে পারেন।
- বাম আমলে মুখ্যমন্ত্রী পাহাড়ে আসতেন না। অথচ আমি ২-৩ মাস পর পরই পাহাড়ে আসি।
- আমি ভোট পাওয়ার জন্য আসি না। আমি মানুষের জন্য কাজ করি।
- আপনাদের ভবিষ্যতের জন্য শান্তিতে দার্জিলিং সামলানো উচিত। ছাত্র-যুব, মা, ভাই-বোনেদের জন্য আপনাদের শান্তি বজায় রাখা উচিত।
- দার্জিলিং বাংলার অঙ্গ। দার্জিলিং পর্যটনের জন্য সারা বিশ্বে বিখ্যাত।
- সিকিমে পর্যটক গেলে সিকিমের লাভ বেশি, দার্জিলিঙে সমস্যা হলেও সিকিমের লাভ হয়। কিন্তু ওরা টাকা দিয়ে দার্জিলিং এর শান্তি নষ্ট করতে চায়। সিকিমের তুলনায় দার্জিলিঙের সৌন্দর্য কম নয়।
- যখনই আমরা পাহাড়ের জন্য উন্নয়ন করি তখনই ওরা এসে আমাদের লোকসান করে দিয়ে যায়। এর ফলে আমরা ১০ বছর পিছিয়ে পরি। আমরা এটা চাই না।
- টাকা দিয়ে দার্জিলিং কে কেনা যাবে না। দার্জিলিং কে মন দিয়ে জয় করতে হবে।
- আমি বিশ্বাস করি দার্জিলিং-এ ভালো শিল্প হাব, পর্যটন হাব, আইটি হাব হতে পারে। অর্কিড, ফুলের চাষ ভালোভাবে হতে পারে।
- আমরা পাহাড়ের উন্নয়ন চাই। আমরা পাহাড়ের মানুষের প্রগতি চাই। পাহাড়ের জন্য চাকরি চাই।
- পাহাড়ে আমরা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় তৈরি করব। আমরা ইতিমধ্যেই আই টি আই, পলিটেকনিক ও জল সরবরাহ প্রকল্পের কাজ শুরু করেছি।
- আমরা বিভেদের রাজনীতি চাই না।
- দার্জিলিঙে শান্তি ফিরিয়ে আনার জন্য আপনাদের সকলকে ধন্যবাদ। পর্যটকরা এখানে ফিরে আসছেন। এটা খুব ভালো লক্ষণ। দার্জিলিঙে আরও অগ্রগতি হোক।
- আমরা চাই কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘার হাসি যেন অমলিন থাকে।
