Preparations in full swing for BGBS 2019
Preparations for the Bengal Global Business Summit 2019, scheduled for February 7 and 8, are on in full swing. This marquee business summit of the State Government has gradually become one of the most looked-forward-to events by the business community of the country.
International participation has also been gradually increasing, from Europe, North America and Asia. Memoranda of understanding (MoU) worth thousands of crore of rupees have been signed over the past couple years.
There has been a reshuffle of officials of the State Commerce and Industries Department to bring in greater efficiency. This is the department which organises the summit.
The BGBS is another of the pet events of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and she was one of the primary brains behind its conception. Under her able leadership, the industrial scenario in Bangla has improved immensely, leaving far behind the dark days of industrial inertia of the Left Front.
She recently visited Germany and Italy to invite investors to the BGBS. As a result of her interactions, big groups of industrialists are coming to participate in the BGBS next year. Several industry captains are flying in from the Middle East too.
The image of Bangla as an investment destination has gradually been changing for the better, and Bengal Global Business Summit has been an important cog in the wheel of that journey.
