Power consumption going up under Trinamool Govt

There has been a big rise in the number of electricity consumers in Bangla during the rule of the Trinamool Congress Government. On Monday, July 8, the Power Minister gave a detailed picture of the power consumption scenario.
The demand for electricity has gone up by 16 per cent, including domestic, industrial and agricultural consumers.
There had been around 85 lakh consumers when the Trinamool Congress Government came to power. Now the number of consumers has gone up to 1.91 crore, thus showing a 124.7 per cent increase.
With respect to industrial consumers, in the last seven-and-a-half years, their number has gone up by 39 per cent.
He further informed that new electricity connections will be given to 1.83 lakh new domestic consumers, 16,663 new commercial consumers, 427 industries and 6,969 agricultural connections.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has instructed the Power Department to ensure that even the remotest villages be brought under electricity coverage, and rural electrification works have already been completed. The department has also ensured quality power to various districts.
In the course of answering the question, the minister also said that under the Aloshree Scheme for developing renewable energy, a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Power Department has set a target of setting up 1,000 solar plants on the rooftops of school buildings.
