Now enjoy exotic dishes at affordable prices, at State Govt-owned restaurants
To cater to increasing demands, from selling raw foods, the State Government is now turning to opening restaurants. The West Bengal Government’s Fisheries, Agriculture and Agricultural Marketing, and Animal Resources Development Departments, and Mother Dairy have come together for this gastronomic initiative.
The chain of restaurants, named Kaviar, opened on Monday, with the first one being located at the Bidhannagar head office of the Animal Resources Development Department. The second would come up soon in Alipore.
The speciality of these restaurants would be serving typical Bengali dishes – including tasty and popular fishes like morola, tangra and hilsa, and prawns – at affordable rates, without compromising on quality. Also available would be dishes made of chicken, ham, meat and eggs of koel, and exotic rice varieties like Gobindabhog and Tulaipanji.
The State Government, through its departments, was already doing brisk business selling items like chicken, ham, koel eggs and meat, and exotic rice varieties, as well as fresh vegetable and fruits, all at very affordable rates. Now, through these restaurants, the departments would further augment their incomes.
Gradually such restaurants would be opened all over the State – in places like Bardhaman, Baruipur, Siliguri and others.
According to officials in the Livestock Development Corporation Ltd., through these restaurants, a lot of employment would be generated, too.

ক্রমবর্ধমান চাহিদা, কাঁচা খাবার বিক্রি ইত্যাদির জন্য সরকারী রেস্তোরা চাকু করছে রাজ্য সরকার। এই প্রকল্পের উদ্যোক্তা একযোগে মৎস্য দফতর, মাদার ডেয়ারি, কৃষি ও কৃষি বিপণন, প্রাণিসম্পদ উন্নয়ন দফতর৷
সোমবার প্রথম রেস্তোরাঁ খুলে গেল বিধাননগরে৷ এর নাম ‘ক্যাভিয়ার’৷ দ্বিতীয় রেস্তোরাঁটি হবে আলিপুরে৷
এখানের বিশেষত্ব হল এখানে সববাঙালি রান্না পাওয়া যাবে। এছাড়াও বেশ কিছু জনপ্রিয় রান্না যেমন মৌরলা, ট্যাংরা, চিংড়ি থেকে কোয়েলের মাংস, হ্যাম পাওয়া যাবে। সঙ্গে গোবিন্দভোগ, তুলাইপাঞ্জি চালের ভাত, সোনা মুগের ডাল ও পাওয়া যাবে।
রাজ্যে মাদার ডেয়ারির অনেকগুলি বিক্রয় কেন্দ্র ছিলই, প্রাণিসম্পদেরও কাউন্টার ছিল৷ এর মাধ্যমে কোয়েলের মাংস, ডিম, হ্যাম, নানারকম ফার্স্ট ফুডের কাঁচা পসরা তুলাইপাঞ্জি, গোবিন্দভোগ চাল বিক্রি করছিল সরকার৷ কিন্তু এবার নীতি বদলে আরও বাণিজ্যিকীকরণের পথে হাঁটল সরকার৷.
ক্রমশ রাজ্যের বিভিন্ন জায়গায় যেমন বর্ধমান, বারুইপুর, শিলিগুড়ি ও অন্যান্য জায়গায়ও এই ধরনের রেস্তোরা খোলা হবে।
