New trekking route coming up in Mirik

New trekking route coming up in Mirik

To give more options to trekkers, the State Tourism Department has decided to start open a new trekking route in Mirik, passing through picturesque tea gardens, forests and mountains.

This would be an apt alternative to the ever-popular Sandakphu route, a route where many people begin their trekking journey.

Along with the trekking route, the department has also decided to set up an eco-tourism centre there – at Chenga Khola and Manjha Khola.

According to an official of the Tourism Department, the route would start from Khaprail near Manjha Khola, pass through Putung, Chhota Tingling, along Asolay Falls and Viewpoint Tingling, to end at the border village of Kharbani.
To and fro, it would be a route of about 20 km and would take 2 days to complete. Trekkers’ huts would be built for the night halt.
