New nursing schools to be set up in PPP model

New nursing schools to be set up in PPP model

The Bangla Government over the years has introduced many health schemes and programmes for the welfare of citizens. In a new initiative, the State Government is going to set up 27 nursing schools across the State in the PPP model.

From 60 to a maximum of around 100 general nursing and midwifery courses will be taught at these schools. As a result, around 2,700 nurses will trained every year in Bangla.

A major aim of the State Government is to construct one or two nursing schools in all districts. Initially, these schools will come up at hospitals with minimum 100 beds. These nurse training centres will be set up in those super speciality hospitals across the State which do not have any nursing school or college.

At present, there are only 54 nursing schools/training centres across the State. These 27 nursing schools will increase the number to 81 (government and private). These schools will be set up in Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, Raiganj, Dinhata, Gangarampur, Chanchal, Mal, Karandighi, Domkal, Kandi, Kalyani, Bongaon, Arambagh, Bishnupur, Rampurhat, Kanthi, Bolpur, Asansol, Durgapur, Agara, Khatara, Salboni, Diamond Harbour, Raghunathpur, Kalna, Katwa and Haldia.

It may be mentioned, the health department already runs fair-price medicine shops and diagnostic centres successfully in the PPP model.
